Cannot connect to a windows network
Hello,
I am trying to use Samba to let me mount windows network drives on an
Ubuntu Dapper Server installation that I am using as a desktop.
Using:
testparm
my smb.conf seems to be ok.
Using
smbclient -L GM.local -U username -p
Gives me a full listing of all network drives, which again seems to be
good. So now I try this:
sudo mount -t smbfs -o username=username \//GM.local/DC4

Mappoing from Samba client to \\server\share\dir ?
Hi!
How do I create a mountpoint with smbmount, that attaches to
\\server\share\dir (on a Windows 2000 server) ?? If I mount to
\\server\share I'm not able to see anything - but the mapping to the same
server (from a Win2000 client) is okay, and I can see the contents of the
directory... Trying to map to //server/share/dir gives me an error:

I'm have my first Samba PDC 2.2.6 up and running (great!) but I have a
problem with *some* non-ASCII characters.
Here are some details:
- Windows (Win98, Win2k and WinXP) clients use Portuguese-Brazillian (pt-BR)
as language.
- Linux distribuition: Mandrake 9.0 with the latest updates (from
MandrakeSoft) and Portuguese-Brazillian support.

Shortened sharenames
Doing a little shell scripting with smbclient and noticed that
smbclient -N -L host
only displays the first 13 charachters of the sharename.
Since that is totally crippled feel like I must be missing something
obvious, but can't track it down. Any pointers on getting FULL sharenames
using smbclient?
Thanks for the help
