Force User -
Hello,
I am using Samba shares as a way for my users to publish files from their
Windows XP PC's to my Apache Web Server on Red Hat Linux.
The username I use for Apache is apache and it has full read, write and
execute access on all the files within my webserver root directory. In the
Samba Shares I use force user = apache so this means that any files created
using the share actually get

Win XP Profiles
Please, please help me.
I am running RH6.2, Samba 2.2.4 and Windows XP (with sign seal patch). Samba
is my PDC.
I want to use roaming profiles and it nearly works except for something
really strange.
When I logon to the Domain as a user and make changes to files etc and then
log out it updates my roaming profile
perfectly on the server. As the same user if I logon to another machine it

I want to create a share that will force users to a ID and group, allow
certain users write privileges to certain directories only and others read

How to stop mount.cifs remembering password
Dear all,
I'm fairly new to Samba and CIFS and, for that matter, Linux in general.
I'm having a problem with "mount.cifs" as provided with Debian 5. I'm
afraid I cannot say what version of mount.cifs I have since doing
"mount.cifs -V" does not (contrary to the message it shows when I do this)
actually show the version, but rather how to use the program.

[LLVMdev] Sparc regression in V119382 "pseudo instruction expansion"
The following code compiles for Sparc prior to version 119382 but causes
a llc to hang in version 119382 and later. I glanced at it but haven't
figure it out yet. I figure I'd ping the list to see if it's an obvious
fix to someone else.

can't delete older file/directory links on another local partition after `snapshot' type backup script
Thanks for looking at this, and developing rsync. Really useful program that
I rely on. Bit of a newbie but I couldn't find anything on this in these
archives. Hopefully it's a really stupid question!
I'm trying to backup using cp -al and then rsync -auR --delete backup idea
basically as per

Your wine binary was not upgrded correctly,
or you have an older one somewhere in your PATH.
Or maybe the wrong winserver is still runing?"
How do i fix this?

mysql module v 1.0 mysql_grant - database_grant
Hi,
I''m using mysql module version 0.6.1 and I wanted to upgrade. After
reading a little I saw that migrating from v 1 to 2 must be studied, so
I decided to upgrde to version 1.
BUT, I''ve seen a couple of warnings on my first run and I''m updating my
code, but I''ve found that my old sysntax for database_grant is not
compatible with mysql_grant.
So, if I had

nmbd strangeness with 2.0.6
Hi all,
I finally upgrded Samba to 2.0.6 last night. After doing so, I have
observed some strange behaviour.
First of all, although domain master, local master and preferred master
are all set to true, the server running samba fails to become the local
master browser on one subnet (succeeds on another subnet though). The
messages from the log file are as follows:

prngd not seeded
I am running openssh 3.4p1 and had everything working fine, but then we had
to upgrde the openssl. So did the same steps now openssh is not seeing
prngd. We configure openssh with :

this is what we saw with openssl-0.9.6g when I configured it:
