Re: Different printer drivers ...
Greetings, I've now received private e-mail saying that others have seen this problem, sent e-mail to this list and received no answers. That ultimately, they ended up altering their Windows clients to use LPR instead of Samba. Is this really something that a genuine MS Windows server can handle and Samba cannot? Does anybody know when these other drivers stopped working well and what

My Documents folder and roaming profiles.
Hi All, I don't know whether here is the right place to ask as this question is probably more Windows related than Samba related but I thought someone here might have some ideas. I've got a Samba 2.2.5 PDC (running on FreeBSD but that doesn't really matter) serving Windows XP machines. The roaming profiles are set to be stored in a different share to the users home directory so

adding printers from netlogon script
While this doesn't relate specifically to Samba, I need to do this in a netlogon .bat file in a Samba domain. In my network, I have a printer hooked to a JetDirect so that it is a TCP/IP printer. Is there a way I can automatically have this printer mapped/added when the user is logged on? -- Andrew Gaffney

samba problems with FreeBSD
i'm trying to setup a PDC with my FreeBSD box. i'm following the directions in "Samba Unleashed" by SAMS. in it they mention the creation of a server user account. this is the example they give: useradd -c "Samba PDC fir MYDOMAIN" -M -s /bin/false -n PERSEUS$ other than the fact FreeBSD doesn't use useradd and that pw useradd doesn't have a "-M"

What the heck is this ? I did check samba.mbox, samba-technical.mbox and groups.google.com yet, but as far as my grep brings me, without success. Other problems I'm fighting with is: -

Wine and USB scanner access ?
Hi, I'm using latest Wine (20050310) with Debian sid (kernel 2.6.11). I own an USB 1.1 scanner : Agfa SnapScan 1212U. I successfully installed ScanWise software provided by the vendor (2.0.0.9 version) but when I launch it, it behaves as if the scanner's light wasn't on, or it was unplugged : it asks for me to connect the scanner. Below is the debugging info. I also tried to

Validate Ids Multiple DC
If you add the "not" supported winbind options from the member also to the DCs, then you will have the same resulting uid on all servers. Official not supported, but works now for more then a year here. ( sernet samba 4.2.7 on debian wheezy ) This is my addition to the smb.conf on the DC. ## map id's outside to domain to tdb files. idmap config * : backend = tdb

cupsaddsmb claims to work but fails
Case strange... I've past probably 30 hours by now on this, crawling the web, and doing attempts. I managed to make cupsaddsmb run without producing an error, but it fails. samba (2.2.8a) driver download fails
Hi there, I have a problem with the rpc driver stuff: I have copied the driver files to //atlas/print$/W32X86 and WIN40 (via filesystem copy), added and set the driver without errors. But getdriver reports no driver associatet with the printer?! So reports below. I am sure, this was working on this system. I tried to reinit the ntprinters.tdb, printing.tdb, nt_forms.tdb and ntdrivers.tdb by

RH Linux 9 on AMD k6-2 500 Using HP deskjet 930c on USB Samba version: 2.2.7a cups version: 1.1.18 Hello - I have had a good look on this newsgroup - and what I've picked up I think is allowing me to ask these questions more intelligently. I've also had a good look at the CUPS documentation aswell as the Samba documentation. 1. Am I correct is assuming that CUPS only likes postscript,
