Re: (2.2.5) Does AUTO PRINTER DRIVERS work - definitive statement please (Trevor Fraser)
Hi (Samba 225, Sol 2.8) Well.....for anyone that's interested.. I decided to try the printer upload/download support in 225. So far I've been inconsistently able to upload and download drivers. When uploading, sometimes I'll get the message described in the HOW-TO docs and when I do it seems to upload OK. But then when I attempt to install the printer on a client, I get prompted

Recycle bin Functionality
Giulio- I apologize for contacting you directly on this, but there doesn't seem to be much interest from anyone for answering any questions on the recycle bin module. I'm hoping you can help. I need to configure the recyle bin to function as it did (before V. 2.2.4/5) with the patches from Brandon Stone. Brandon's version allowed me to configure samba to move deleted files to a

samba-2.2.8a-220 and OSX
Hi to all. We have a samba-2.2.8a-220 Server. The server works still fine with several clients (W9x, W2k, WXP and smbmounts via Linux). But now I have to connect an Apple OSX and now I have one problem. From OSX I can connect to the shares, browse the file listing. But when a file is copied into a share, the file is on the destination with 0 (zero) Bytes filesize. The linux uid and gid are

Samba not visible in NN with File and Print Services installed on W9x
Hi, maybe I missed a recent "FDP" (Frequently described problem)in the list, but maybe somebody can point me to the right direction. There were several postings about not seeing Samba but none referred the the MS "File and Print Services" on W9x clients being the cause of the trouble (Hope this is the correct translation from German W9x). I've got a Samba 2.0.5a with Suse

some mail reappears or marked as read again
Sometimes a mail - already read or moved into another folder - appears again in the INBOX. I was not quite sure about this but today is once close the mail client (thunderbird 2.0.0.4 on fedora 7) and the only mail in the inbox was mark as unread. I think it happens in other mailboxes too. But it might be a client problem as I changed to dovecot and thunderbird 2 (from 1.5) nearly at the

Using format to add leading zeroes
I have a numerical vector which contains a (poorly) formatted time column, which, in theory, should be HHMM, but was distributed as an integer, so, for 12:15 am, it is saved as "15" (e.g. HHMM = 0015 with the zeroes stripped). I'm trying to use this in conjunction with strptime, but I'm thinking because each time is an integer ranging from 1 to 4 digits, I probably need to

Pre-3.023d-Bug in ACL-handling reappears in 3.026a
# wbinfo -Y S-1-5-11 Could not convert sid S-1-5-11 to gid # wbinfo -Y S-1-5-13 Could not convert sid S-1-5-13 to gid (S-1-5-11 are the Authenticated Users, S-1-5-13 are the Terminal Server Users.) This bug was finally solved in release 3.023d. Now it is back again. How can I get this working? I'm using idmap/tdb - would another idmap-module solve this issue? The winbind log looks like

save.image() error reappears
A week or so ago, I reported a problem on my new Windows XP box getting R 1.4.1 and R 1.5.0 (development from BDR's site) to save the .RData file upon program exit. Specifically, either clicking on the "X" in the GUI or invoking q() from the command line produced the following error: Error in save.image(name) : image could not be renamed and is left in .RDataTmp1 After some

Round 2 - Guest Share on WXP Host
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help so far. Not quite there but I think I'm close. For anyone new, it's a private 2 comp network (RH9 and WXP) so I just want the simplest guest access possible. This is my current smb.conf file: [global] workgroup = SAMBA encrypt passwords = yes smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd security = share null

reshape
Hello, helpeRs, I am attempting to reshape (either base R or package reshape) multiple .csv spreadsheets from a very unfortunate wide format to long format. ?Each spreadsheet looks something like this, after being read in to R: toy <- data.frame(year = rep(2007:2008,each = 20), month = rep(1:5,each = 4, length = 40), day = rep(1:2,each = 2,length = 40), hhmm = rep(1100:1101,length = 40),

W9x doesn't download printer drivers
My W9x clients cannot download printer driver from samba 3.0.2rc1 with cups 1.1.17, while w2k clients do. The W9x clients open the Add Printer Wizard, connect to print$ share, request the ADOBEPS4.DRV file, but they stop at the beginning of the download. Permissions on print$\WINNT\0 directory are the same as print$\W32X86\2. cupsaddsmb was successful. I sniffed the packets while client was

RE: Run xen with a dual boot system
There''s not a simple answer to this. First of all, this will not work with currently available hardware, at least not with Xen, because the current implementation of Xen on currently available hardware relies on Xen-friendly code in the OS, which is relatively easy on Linux and other Open Source OS''s, but becomes near impossible on closed source OS''s. With future

No Domain Controller, Please help to interpret tcpdump
Greetings! I am still struggling with the issue that after vampiring from NT4 domain to Samba 3.0.7 with ldap backend, Windows XP cannot find the domain controller. In particular, WXP is an XP Prof which signed in AB_INITIO_DOM domain. After the migration I put the Samba Server (Priscilla) and WXP in an isolated network, and started up Priscilla as PDC for the network. But WXP
