m$ briefcase / access question
Hi all,
I've just realised Samba doesn't appear to support M$ Briefcases, which is a
bit of a shame as I've just designed an Access Database system that needs to
replicate between Servers on five sites, and we've just converted the
client's NT Servers to Linux Samba Servers.... (now, finally, things work
properly!!)
So, presuming there is a God up there somewhere.... can

resolve the names of the Servers. I thought I could get around this by
adding the following line into my smb.conf:
name resolve order = hosts lmhosts wins bcast
(though I'm sure there are better ways of achieving this!!)
But this doesn't solve it! My Samba Server includes a WIN Server and a DHCP
Server, which issues

DTMF issue
Ah I see, in theory it's possible then. We don't have any IVRs or anything
which requires key presses, there isn't even voicemail on this particular
phone system so I don't think it will be too much of a problem.
I've also updated the firmware on the Cisco phones that have had the issue,
just to see if that solves the issue but as it's been going on for a while,

DTMF issue
Hi Tom,
Thank you for your informative and helpful reply. I had considered using the
relaxdtmf setting but held off this due to not using any physical connection
hardware -Asterik uses both SIP in and out from an upstream provider
(Gradwell.com).
Is it still possible to set this when using SIP trunks only and not physical
hardware? The box does have a Digium ISDN card but the ISDN is no longer

smbmount, max_xmit and block size negotiation
Hi,
I am wondering what the right way is to have smbmount negotiate a
block size value of more than 4kB with the Samba server.
I cannot seem to let smbmount understand the value I want it to use. I
assumed first it gets this from smb.conf, and by adding DEBUG() info to
the code and printing c->max_xmit, that's what it is using in smbmount.c.
I also tried influencing the number using

smbmount/mount interaction
Hello,
I'm looking for some (user & technical) feedback on a change I'm
considering on how mount and smbmount works together.
The current way mounts are done are:
mount -t smbfs ... => smbmount ... => smbmnt
Possibly without the mount step. smbmount stays as a daemon and reconnects
when asked (unless it crashes).
Problems:
- Some mount options should affect if the mount

Problem with smbmount and smbfs
I'm not sure if this has already be answered, but when I try to mount
something using smbmount I get an error that smbfs needs mount version 6. I
am running kernel 2.2.16-3 I was running 2.2.14-5.0 and I was still having
the same problem. Is there a fix to this. Or is it a bug. I have not been
able to find any documentation on the exact problem, just other people with
the same problem.

removing daylight savings in R
Hi all,
I've been having some trouble with times in regards to daylight savings in R
version 2.8.1. I have an ORACLE database that R is importing data in from,
for the 2am and 2:30am time intervals for the dates that daylight savings
starts the times are getting read as NA values into R. I'm also finding that
if I open a R workspace from version 6.2.2,the datetimes are

smbmount error
I posted a similar email recently regarding this. One thing has changed,
however; I have upgraded my kernel to 2.2.6 (hence I'm now using the samba
version of smbmount rather than the smbfs version).
I get the error "no such device" when trying to mount a network drive.
My command line is:
smbmount "\\\\susangra\\c-hd" -c 'mount /mnt'

Errors with smbfs/smbmount.
I've been working with smbfs/smbmount the last few weeks to allow my
linux log processing server access to the logs on our NT servers. The
problem is that after a period of time all the smbfs mounts become
invalid with either one of two errors. When you do a 'df -k' to view
the mounts you see the following:

help - smbclient works: smbmount doesn't
Naturally, you tinker around with stuff long enough and you break it.
I am running Samba 2.2.2 on a Corel linux box and am attempting to connect
to a share on a windows XP system. At one point, this was working fine.
Then I spent time trying to reconfigure my kernel so that I could attach a
floppy tape drive and now I can connect with smbclient to the share, but I
cannot with smbmount. I have

linux 2.2.x and smbmount 2.0.5a: Win95 bugfix?
I have become quite confused about the interaction of the kernel
versions and the different versions of Samba and smbmount.
I have just upgraded to a 2.2 kernel. 'make menuconfig' gave no choice
by which to enable the Win95 bug workaround. At the same time, smbmount
2.0.5a, which seems to be the proper one for a 2.2 kernel (it's the

a bug in smbmount
Hello All!
There was a problem: then the samba server goes down, the smbfs
tries to reconnect only once. Then the server returns online
the smbfs dont restore connection and say "I/O error"
without keeping trying to reconnect.
I found that there is no problem in smbfs kernel module.
Each time it got CONN_INVALID, it send SIGUSR1 to smbmount daemon,
which has to restore connection.
The
