Hi all, I need to give a group of users access to a file share that I am sharing via samba. In smb.conf I am using something similar to; [accts] comment = Accounts Dept Share path = /usr/local/share/accounts valid users = @accounts public = no writable = yes printable = no create mask = 0765 The valid users line says who can access this share: "@accounts". Network Help
I have searched the internet, and have tried some things I have found, but cannot resolve my issue. Hoping to find some help here. I have a peer to peer network static IP on all workstations, approximately 100 computers running Windows XP pro, and Windows 2000 pro. My desktop, Ubuntu, and one Linux Server, running Red Hat 9. The RH9 machine has Samba v2.27 running as WINS. It is set as

IAX2 * -> * handoff
Hey All, I am setting up a network of Asterisk servers using IAX2. I am wondering if it is possible to disable the handoff feature? At the moment I have 4 asterisk machines, 3 are at SOHO offices and 1 is centrally hosted in a data centre. In addition the central machine has an IAX2 link to a VOIP provider (and might be set up with more in the future). All calls are routed through that

New trick for old dogs
We have been using Samba for many years. The company has just switched from an NT domain to an Active Directory domain. The new server is running Windows Server 2003. We are having trouble configuring our Solaris 8 server so it can join the domain as a server. Just getting Samba to compile and link was interesting enough. This included downloading and compiling a new version of the BerkeleyDB,

Festival Installation - Asterisk 1.0-RC2 && Debian Woody
Hey All, Thought I'd take a bash at trying to get Festival to work here on my lab system with the aim of using it to create our IVR menu prompts. I've spent most of the afternoon searching through the Wiki, the Festival website and Google and I've got a couple of questions. First one is that the 'Asterisk+festival+installation' page on the Wiki mentions the RedHat 9 RPMs

[PATCH matahari] Created a new platform-abstraction layer named Platform.
It provides an initial implementation, LinuxPlatform, which is by default included in the build. Later code will refactor the build process to include the appropriate implementation depending on the target platform. Signed-off-by: Darryl L. model.frame.default problem in function definition
Could someone point me in the right direction for the following issue: A function is defined as follows: tfun <- function(dat) { fmla <- as.formula("y~x+z") dat2 <- dat mdl <- lm(fmla,dat2) mdl <- step(mdl) } Then the following code dat <- data.frame(x=1:10,z=1:10,y=(1:10)^2+10*(1:10)) tfun(dat) generates the output Start: AIC= 43.67

An addendum to my PDC troubles.
OK, I lied a bit about not being able to add users. I can do that just fine, if I remember to set the UID above 1000. I still cannot add a computer or log in as root with a client machine. I can change password just fine from WIN2000/XP for all users, including root. I get the error message "The system cannot find message text for message number 0x%1 inthe message file for %2" only if

back-solver: any R thing like TK!Solver?
Just thought I'd ask. For those who've never seen TK!Solver, I strongly recommend taking a look. So far as I can tell, it's the only product of its type available, retail or open source, for any platform. What makes TK!Solver so cool is that it adaptively back-solves pretty much any unknown from any set of equations you give it. (or vector full of unknowns, producing a vector of

Odd problem...no password authentication to shares?
Morning... I'm having a problem that I'm finding to be quite disconcerting, but fear it might just be a misunderstanding on my part. I have Samba 1.9.18p8 installed on one of my Solaris 2.6 machine, and, for some reason, if I change my password on the Solaris machine, I can still map my drive without it re-asking me for my passwd. For instance, I turn on my computer and connect to

OpenSSH banner doesnot display multibyte characters like korean
Hello, The banner message displayed on the screen contain octal values instead of korean chars. Prior to ssh 5.1 the banner message would display the charaters properly. I understand that starting from 5.1 the message is passed through strnvis() function. I looked into documentation on strnvis and found that it does not support multibyte chars and doesnt work well with international chars.

Self-Signed Certificate issue
My apologies if this is a repeat but my search of the archive did not turn it up in the recent past. If this has been covered just point me at the previous thread, please. I am running a small email site which I am moving from uw-imapd and Solaris to Ubuntu and Dovecot imaps and pop3s. I am trying to use a self-signed certificate for this site. I am using Thunderbird as the test client. I've
