delivering mail to public mbox with permission 660?
I am migrating a couple old RH servers running sendmail and UW-IMAP to a new Ubuntu 10.04 servers running Postfix and Dovecot. I have everything working reasonably well except that the permissions of newly created mbox mail folders is always 600. I have reviewed the archives, google, and double checked everything is as suggested in the Dovecot Wiki / SharedMailboxes / Permissions. I am

create mask, create vs copy file
Hi, I have an issue whereby when I create a new file it obeys the create mask defined for the share but when I copy a file from within the same directory the file is created without write permssions for the primary group. Ie: directory has permissions 770, existing file has permissions of 770, create mask is 0770. When I copy a file its permissions are 750. However when creating a new file

Did I screw up my PDC on this Terminal Services problem?
Hi All, I am upgrading my samba server from a workgroup to PDC server. I am doing this to make a Windows 2008 Terminal server happy. Eventually there will be a bank of them (thank you Virtual Box). Anyway, in my test bed, I have a Samba PDC (newly updated to PDC), a Windows 2008 server, and XP-Pro-SP3. Both Windows machines are able to join the domain and log in as users only in the Samba

Apache slows to a grinding halt... Did I screw up or is something wrong?
Hello, So, I just got through a very stressful couple of hours. I''ve been running a rails application for a few months on a dedicated server. The application isn''t really that intensive and has been serving roughly 50k requests / day. It''s been handling really well, really fast, and all is good. The deployment configuration I am using is apache 2.2.3 with

provisioning with vagrant-libvirt leaves .img file only readable by root
I'm using libvirt on Debian/stretch (testing) with vagrant and the vagrant-libvirt plugin. When I import a vagrant box (jessie64.box), the resulting file permssions let anyone in the "kvm" group read the img. But when I build upon that box, only root can read it: -rw------- 1 root root 20198785024 Sep 19 18:19 buildserver_default.img -rwxr--r-- 1 libvirt-qemu kvm

Share Admin
I've got a share that I'm trying to get so I can set permissions through the normal windows way (right click on folder/file->properties->security). The share definition is: [test] comment = Test share on magellan path = /var/test browseable = yes writable = yes hide unreadable = yes admin users = @"Domain Admins" The server is a member server in

Can't create folders in .wine/drive_c/users/public/App Data/...
OK, so I don't know what's going on. (even with tinyproxy/firehol off the following occurs). Unless wine is run by root, when WoW is first loaded and trying to login, WoW creates a Cache folder and a bunch of folders under cache for login purposes. The Cache folder exists in: <wine profile dir>/drive_c/users/Public/Applicatoin data/Blizzard Entertainment/Battle.net. Now it can

does cifs understand acl's?
4.0.6 file server for a 4.0.6 domain, reproducible with a 3.6.12, and 3.6.15 file server. aix permission horrors!
I have installed samba 2.0.0 on our AIX 4.1 machine. It appears to be working fine in domain security mode. Except for one thing: No matter what the read permissions in Unix are, ANY user can read EVERY file in a share. Write permission is working properly. What the heck is going on here? I have the Unix permssions set to a-rwx (000) and it STILL lets everyone read all the files in the

IDMAP, WINBIND and NIS
I have posted on this subject before but am still running into problems. The main question is whether I need to use Windbind in a single samba domain when each samba server also uses NIS for centralized unix level authentication. And if, in fact, I need windbind do I need it on all the samba servers? And do I need a central IDMAP respositoryor other mechanism to maintain consident SIDs? My

Domain Users Group Effective Permissions on Workstation files after upgrade from 3.0.4 to 3.0.11
I have had a running 3.0.4 server running for quite some time with no problem. I built a new server with Fedora core 3 & ending up with SAMBA 3.0.11 running. Workstation running windows xp pro with sp2 applied Things are generally ok, but I am finding that group permissions at the workstation are not being carried to the user, specifically for Domain Users. Domain Admins appear to be

Change atrributes of file on windows side (or DOS)
To whomever may help: I am trying to change the attributes for a file on the linux system, but trying to do it on the windows side or dos prompt. The dos attrib command will not do this, and while researching I found a setmode command, but this gives me an "invalid command" message. Can someone tell me how to modify a file's attributes on a linux system from the windows end

Profiles directory permssions
So, trying to get profiles working. The GPO is there and functioning. However, the user isn't able to create the needed directory for *initial* setup of the profile. [It's possible if I hand-created the profile directory for the user, and granted them rights, it would work properly. But it is vastly easier to have the user create their own directory at first login. I'm sure that's

Fonts in Quartz Devices
Hi, I'm new to R. I'm using a Mac OS X 10.5 and R 2.7.0. I'm trying to change the font family for a plot in a quartz device. Simply passing the desired font by using the family argument works with other devices, but not with quartz. Am I missing anything? I've already checked the docs for quartz and quartzFonts, but didn't find a solution. Any help much appreciated.

I know I''ve seen this somewhere...
Hello everyone, A few months back, I remember seeing either an online video or tutorial that covered using Rails where the "database" was a large collection of XML documents in a directory. I can''t remember much more than that about it (particularly what the application was), but now I''m facing a similar situation and I''d like to track that reference down
