Error Joining NT DOMAIN
I'm trying to use the documentation found with Samba-2.2.4 to set up a samba server under RH linux 7.2 (kernel 2.4.9-21) to join an existing NT domain for a couple of weeks with no success. I obtained the samba 2.2.4 source code, compiled with the following options to configure: --with-winbind --prefix=/usr/local/samba --with-smbwrapper --with-pam --with -pam_smbpass After compiling, I

printing info needed
Hello experts, I really did'nt want to, but now I have to understand what's really going on when trying to print. I need to know why the hp 9x0C deskjet printqueue even don't want to open the properties window and sometimes the KXdrivers from Kyocera refuse to print. I can find questions in the lists but no answeres. As there is so much documentation and source code on the one hand

unable to upload printer driver
Hi Achim, thank you for your effort! I did a couple of tests, from W8.1 with x64 driver which where rather old and therefore disignated for W7x64. But this went stale as well. Therefore I'll give it a try by using a W7-WS for uploading the drivers. Franz >>> Achim Gottinger <achim at ag-web.biz> 06.06.2017 15:27 >>> Hmm after another try an windows 7 client 32 and

[PATCH 00/17] Btrfs-progs: some receive related patches
Most fixes are trivial. The one from Alex is fixing a real bug that several users have reported. Alex sent the patch half a year ago and it was not yet integrated. The patch "Use /proc/mounts instead of /etc/mtab" is a repost. The patch "btrfs-receive optionally honors the end-cmd" is a preparation step to allow backup tools to multiplex a single communication stream (e.g. a

Printer Admin Difficulties
I have been trying to setup a new print server on Fedora 12 based around samba-3.4.7-58.fc12.x86_64 and cups-1.4.2-28.fc12.x86_64. All looks good except for the ability for printer administrators to manage printers. Whether I specify users in a system group using the deprecated printer admin option, or specifically using net rpc rights and the SePrinterOperatorPrivilege, it does not matter.

Printing from Windows to Samba takes a LOT of time.
Hi there, I've a linux server (PII 233, 94mb ram) running Mandrake Linux 9.1 with an HP printer attached to it. I've configured the printer (I'm using CUPS) and it works fine. Next, I've configured samba: [global] . . . workgroup = MYWORKGROUP security = share log level = 2 printing = cups . . . [hp] printer = hp printable = yes path = /var/spool/samba

Samaba 2.2.7 and windows printer driver woes
Greetings, all, I have a fresh install of Samba 2.2.7 on a Solaris 9 machine. Stand alone, not part of a domain. Testing with a stand alone Windows 2000 professional client with service pack 3 installed. I am having problems setting defaults for the installed printer drivers and I have been unable to load Win98 drivers to go along with the W2k drivers. Printers being tested are an HP LJ

Windows printing problems to Samba3.2
Help! I'm in the process of migrating my companies Windows NT print server to Samba 3.2. (yea) But I'm running into a few problems. (boo) I've searched the archives and google with no success... I have about 15 clients testing out the new server, mainly Win2k. Some work fine, but others have problems connecting, getting the "Unable to Connect" message in the printer folder.

Panic or segfault in Samba 3.6.1 - Debian testing
Since upgrading to 3.6.1 in Debian testing, I receive a panic/segfault message with each print job. Printing succeeds and continues to work, but an email with the info below is sent each time. The system is standalone. Kernel is 3.1.0-1-686-pae, and the system is fully updated. testparm returns no errors. Does this mean anything to anyone? Dale [Thread debugging using libthread_db

use local users on domain member
Hello list. My samba 3.0.4 server is member of an NT domain. Now I want to use local unix accounts (on this server) as well as the domain accounts to authenticate users. It works, if I use "smbclient -W <netbios name of the server>" but not when using win2k clients. The client's name is mapped to the domain name and as a result the sam backend doesn't even look at the

"printer admin" still working in 3.0.21c?
While I'm able to successfully upload printer drivers with APW to my Samba 3.0.21c DMS server with CUPS, I have a hard time changing printer properties afterwards which always ends up with "access denied", although the AD account used to connect is listed in "[global] printer admin =". I noticed that "printer admin" is marked deprecated in 3.0.21c, but

Windows 8 Point-and-Print
Hello everyone, I'm aware that the new level-4 printer drivers are not supported by Samba. But level-3 drivers, that are used by Windows 7 and earlier, should also work with Windows 8. Unfortunately, if you try to use a level-3 driver from a Windows 8 client using the point-and-print mechanism, you will always get the message, that there's no driver available. I couldn't find a

printernames vs. sharenames
Hello, when I assign a printer driver to a printer from a windows client, the printername now changes to the drivername. Yes, I can see the SPOOLSS_SETPRINTER call with the printername property, but that's definitly not what I want (or would expect). E.g. when I change the drivers of 3 printers to HP Laserjet, I get 3 printers with the names "HP Laserjet [(Copy 1|2)]". These
