Win2K registry not loading correctly
Hi, I've noticed that my Win2K registry just won't load correctly. In Win2K regedit nothing shows up at all - not even home registry values - and in Win98 regedit (running in my w2k configured wine) only few values show up, I believe those are my home registry values. Here's the relevant stuff from config, built with winesetup: [Drive H] "Path" = "/mnt/winnt"

Win2K can't print to a Samba Printer?
Hello, ** Please CC replies to ian@ichilton.co.uk as I am not subscribed ** I have a Brother laser printer connected to a linux box running Samba. It is working fine from Win98 workstations, but now I have Win2K on my laptop, I am unable to print. This is because the linux box obviously doesn't have the win2k driver so I tried to install it as a local printer and then change it to a network

Here is my smb.conf file: # Samba config file created using SWAT # from greyowl.swamp.ca (192.168.0.5) # Date: 2002/06/26 00:29:59 # Global parameters [global] workgroup = SWAMP netbios name = BALDEAGLE server

Win2k and Printing
man smb.conf /Access Denied (or /Unable to connect) Turns up the "use client driver" parameter. Best way to deal with this problem, which occurs when you have w2k and XP users who install drivers locally and are local admins, is to not have them install the drivers locally (use the print$ share). Second best is to use client driver = yes, which has some side-affects but gets the job

Very Slow Transfers from Win2K to Linux over Samba
I'm having a slight problem with Samba. For a few months now I've used Samba on my Linux box to access my songs on my Win98 machine over a 10MBit Ethernet without any problems. Now that I've upgraded to Win2K, my uploads are down to about 30k/s and my downloads to about 1k/s. Changing SO_SNDBUF to 1200 made the uploads quite a bit better, jolting back and forth but averaging about

Possibly problem with case of filenames ?
Hi, i'm having a little problem with samba (or Windows98 ?). The story : I'm using the program WHFC (Windows Hylafax Client) on a W2k and Win98-client. Samba 2.2.5 is running on Suse LINUX 7.1 Kernel 2.4.18. The WHFC-program uses a share on the LINUX-server (actually the share contains tif-images of received faxes). No problems with W2k, but with Win98. The WHFC-client shows the

URGENT: WIN2K INVALID VOLUMENAME
Dear Samba Users I detected a strange behaviour between Win2k Prof. and Samba and I hope somebody can help me fixing it. The Bug: ======= Samba does not correctly return the volume name back to win2k. In the man pages it is written that by default the sharename is returned as volumename. This works fine for Win98 and NT4 but not for Win2k. If I say "label v:" (needless to say that v:

Win2K domain at work, Samba workgroup at home
This is a little off topic, but maybe someone can help. I have a Win2K laptop that's part of a corporate domain. When I bring it home and add it to my home LAN, it refuses to access any SMB machine (including a Samba server, Win98 or Win95 box) complaining that "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request." Is there any way to fix this easily? I
