setting drivers?
Hi! I'm trying to set drivers for printers such that they will automatically download onto winNT/W2K clients. I've followed the instructions in printer_drivers2.html (I'm using samba 2.2.5). my questions: -do I have to define each printer individually in smb.conf? I know you do for the "old" style of printing, the style that didn't work with NT or W2K. here's what I

Samba & LPRng: Printer Status in Windows
I know this question has been answered here a while back, but I have not been able to find the mailing with the posts on it. -----==========----- I have a redhat server that I am using as a file/print server for student use. I am using samba to help the users with Windows. The problem I have is that when using printing a user can submit a print job, and it prints fine, but cannot see the

Tr: RE: Samba 2.2.5 and printers
Ok, I solved the problem by myself. The problem was that the users with wich I tried to connect to the printer where defined as admin users, and I declared root as an invalid user in the samba configuration, so it always give me an access denied because it tried to connect as root. Anyway thanks for the time you waste trying to help me ;-) ----Message r?exp?di?---- >Date: Thu, 27 Jun 2002

Introduction and question
First let me introduce myself to all the list. My name is Josep and I live near Barcelona. This is my first message to the list (I haven't even read any), and I do not know if it is too easy (my question), or if perhaps it is not possible to do what I'm trying to do. Well, let's begin the interesting stuff and finish all the bla-bla-bla's that most people hate :-D I've

NLS -- multiplicative errors and group comparison
Hello, I am attempting to fit a non-linear model (Von Bertalanffy growth model) to fish length-at-age data with the purpose of determining if any of the three parameters differ between male and female fish. I believe that I can successfully accomplish this goal assuming an additive error structure (illustrated in section 1 below). My trouble begins when I attempt this analysis using a model

Predict function for 'newdata' of different dimension in svm
I am using the "predict" function on a support vector machine (svm) object, and I don't understand why I can't predict on a dataset with more observations than the training dataset. I think this problem is a generic "predict" problem, but I'm not sure. The original svm was fit on 50 observations.

Win95-password problem new
Hi all, one problem with SAMBA 2.0.5 on a Caldera eServer2.3 : My 15 users with Win95 SR2 in a NT-DOMAIN are connected to SAMBA and share files and print via SAMBA. All users are in /etc/passwd and in and /etc/samba.d/smbpassw on ther LINUX-Server. There are no problems with this and are all happy. BUT : Sometimes (!!!) SAMBA wants to get a password when users want to print. My users typed the

Hi, I am using Samba (v2.2.3a-12.3 on stable Debian Woody) on a bi-cpu server (named MYSRV) acting as a primary domain controller. All works well except for printers where I have severals little problems. I use LPRng (v3.8.10-1.2 on stable Debian Woody) as my linux lpd spooler on my server. I have 2 printers : one HP LaserJet 4000N (named nss.1er) and one HP LaserJet 4050N (named nss.rdc).

Hi all, I just looked into LPRng to see to what extent it is affected by the problems recently reported for the BSD lpd. It seems that it is fairly safe from those mentioned in the SNI advisory. > Problem 1: File creation > > Individuals with access to the line printer daemon from a privileged > port on a valid print client can tell lpd to create a file, providing > the name of
