Exec file incompatible with hardware
Sorry if this is going to be one of those 'idiot' questions, but I don't use Samba. It has always been on our server, chugging along beautifully so no on ever had to touch it... Well, we consolidated servers and moved everything to another server with HP-UX 10.20 (the previous server had the same HPUX version so I thought I was in the clear), the samba version is samba-1.9.18p2. Samba client issues
Hello everyone, I am a newbie to samba. I am trying to mount a Windows 2000 share directory on my linux box using smbmount. I am able to do so successfully. But I do see some errors pop up when I run the command. My mount seems to be stable and it is mounted as rw. # smbmount "//EngineerWKS85/My Drivers" /mnt/samba -o username=MyUsername, password=MyPassword, workgroup=MyWorkgroup

Codepages
I've seen this in the message data base, but no responses. Running RH 5.1, with samba out of the box, I get the message: unable to load codepage /etc/codepages/codepage.850 in log files and smbclient startups. Is this a problem? How is it fixed? There are no codepage directories that I can see anywhere in RH. Did I miss a module to install? Thanks Carl Hartshorn

Codepages - Need Help
Okay, so since I have been having so much trouble with the smb_retry errors, I thought that I would re-install samba. So where did my codepages go and how can I get them back? load_client_codepage: filename /etc/samba/codepages/codepage.850 does not exist. load_unicode_map: filename /etc/samba/codepages/unicode_map.850 does not exist. smbmount, smbumount and smbmnt
Hi, I am deploying samba for an embedded system. The requirement is that the system should be able to mount windows share points. I believe "smbmount, smbumount and smbmnt" components are needed to do the same. I am not very clear about smbmnt though! I find that smbmount, smbumount and smbmnt are all quite huge. Around 300 to 400Kb each. I understand that Samba is capable of doing

can't create user entries in smbpasswd
Hi all, after installing samba 2.2.5 (on Solaris8 running NIS+) it is not possible to create user entries in smbpasswd. I generated the smbpasswd file by # cat /dev/null | /samba/samba-2.2.5/source/script/mksmbpasswd.sh > /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd ----- then tried to create user entry "dummy" in smbpasswd by (user "dummy" exists under NIS+) # smbpasswd -a dummy

Unicode pages
Hope someone can help here: I have upgraded from Samba 2.0.7 to Samba 2.2.0 without changing anything in the config files, and everything goes well. Now I am looking at what can and what must be changed for this new version. Currently there are three things in the SmbClient that I am wondering about: - SmbClient constantly complains about a missing codepage (850). After looking at the doc, I

caracter set problem
Hi, I'm from Brazil, and I'm having a problem with special caracters when mounting shares upon Windows XP and 2003. Even using the options codepage=850 and iocharset=utf-8 some caracters like ?, ?, ?, ? are gone. I've tried a lot of combinations of codepages and charsets, but the best result is the sample above. Thanks in advance Marcos?Antonio?Dellazari 55 - (45)?3520-6795

Samba Internationalization
Hello, I used with happiness Samba 2.2.3. Everything works perfectly but I noticed two problems with accented characters; the first one on Samba, the other one on Swat. I work with a win98 client and a Debian server. Win98 use codepage 850 but I noticed, in fact, it use codepage 1252 and I suppose that conversion is made with a file called 12520850.cpx. On my Linux box I set up codepage

Hungarian codepage problem using smbmount
Dear Samba Developers, Dear Urban, This was my original letter. I hope you get it correctly this time. Maybe it was too big, now I reduced the size of this letter. My goal is to make a Linux fileserver up and running with automatic archiving functionality in a mixed Windows 2000 - Linux network and since the beginning of February I could not solve my problem, so I write to you hoping that you

makefile and path questions
Hi! This morning, I found a system that was still running an ancient samba. I immediately upgraded it to samba 1.9.18p1 and had the opportunity to fiddle with the make file after not doing this for a couple of months. The default makefile sorts the files like this: BINDIR (/usr/local/samba/bin) smbpasswd smbrun smbclient testparm testprns smbrun smbstatus smbpasswd

codepage & character set
Hi, I migrated files from an existing NT fileserver to a new samba server. Unfortunately I did not make my homework properly and forget to set "codepage" and "character set" in the global section. Bit this was necessary for the f#*?$? German 'Umlaute' like ? ,? ,?. Now my dilemma is the following: -Files that I moved are shown in Unix correctly with ?,? etc. -In NT
