PDC will create new roaming profiles but fails to load them on subsequent logons
Hello,
I'm running Samba Version 3.4.7 on Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS. I'm using Samba as
the Primary Domain Controller.
Things that work:
- Clients can logon
- I can run logon scripts
- Roaming profiles are created for new users on logon
However, when I try to logon again with the same user, I invariably get this
error message:
"Your roaming profile is not available. You are logged on

Roaming profiles, W2K and Samba PDC.
<expletive deleted> My roaming profiles keep "forgetting" they exist on
my W2K boxen. It doesn't occur server-side, as other W2K clients log in
fine. But, once one of the clients has forgotten about roaming profiles,
it usually takes a re-install to make it remember them... and then, only
temporarily. (Except on one machine that's worked fine from the get-go.)

problem with samba PDC and Windows 7 loading roaming profiles
Since years I have a Suse Samba PDC running with Win2000 and WinXP clients.
Now I tried to add 2 Win7 clients and I'm having a problem. Win7 don't
load my
roaming profiles, Win7 always logged in to a domain user using a
temporary profile.
First I upgrades to Samba 3.4.2 (Suse 11.2), than I set the registry

Odd Roaming Profile behaviour from a Samba PDC
Hey All..
I've been trying to track down the source of this problem for some time now
and am hoping that someone may have seen this in the past... I picked up a
system that has Samba V. 2.2.8a, acting as a PDC and serving roaming
profiles to Two Windows 2K Terminal Servers running SP4.
However, as a user attempts to login for the first time, the PDC
authenticates the user and attempts to

I have it configured as a PDC, and all the roaming profiles work,
the management, etc. it's all fine. now, the client that I'm working for,
told me ( after some days of making it all work ) that he sees that the use
of roaming profiles in his network is useless.

samba pdc & ldap without roaming profiles
Hi list
At the momtent I use samba as a pdc with tdbsam as passwd backend. I
plan to use ldap and I already tried it out. Unfortunately I didn't find
a way to disable roaming profiles. I used the smbldap tools.
First there is the question if I should use
add user script = /usr/sbin/smbldap-useradd -m "%u"
with the -a (is a Windows User) option.
If I don't, then windows account

machine? do i also need to move the netlogon dir?
cheers

Windows Vista roaming profiles "access denied" forced local profile (samba PDC), but Windows XP OK
Hello,
I'm having an "Access denied" issue using roaming profiles for Windows
Vista Ultimate RTM (patched to current). The actual login is
successful, the full name is set properly and the password is handled
correctly, however only a temporary profile is created. The interesting
thing is that all else being the same, I do not encounter the same issue

Hi all,
we have implemented a scenario with samba as a PDC, running version
2.2.4, and clients windows XP boxes.
The scenario calls for roaming profiles, and mobility in general.
We have a problem with microsoft outlook, which saves the settings
locally, and thus every student has to visit all lab pcs in order to have
his detailed entered before he can use outlook.

Roaming profiles problem - loading failure
I have a samba 2.2.4 PDC which acts as the repository of roaming profiles.
Just recently some of our users have experienced failure to load roaming
profiles. The clients are on a pair of Windows 2000 terminal servers.
The failure does not seem to be confined to one server and only affects some
people.
The error given takes place during the loading profile stage:

Windows 2000 (some sp2 / sp3) + Roaming Profiles + Samba PDC 2.2.3a (Redhat 7.3)
Hi,
This is my first post to the list, so iam hoping luck is with me :)
Ive run samba as a simple smb fileserver for over a year, but never needed to do any more than provide shares to users (who always use the same machines).
However Iam not in need of running samba as a PDC for some windows 2000 machines, and need to use roaming profiles. This is where the problem sets in. Ive set up a nice

PDC + roaming profiles through VPN
Hello everyone,
I am trying to find out if the following is possible:
I a HOME domain setup at home running on samba.
I also have a WORK domain setup at work.
Both of these domains are using remote profiles. Since I recently added VPN
support to the server at work, I want to explore the possibility of checking
of the "use dialup connection" in my Win2K login screen and login using

W7 and Roaming Profiles on two different PDC
Hello,
I use a Samba 3.6.12-59.23.1-3256-SUSE-SL12.3-x86_64 coming with
openSUSE 12.3 as a PDC. I also use roaming profiles with Windows 7 Pro
clients. This works perfect.
Now I need to _move some clients_ / profiles to another server with
Samba 4.1.9-3.22.1-3256-SUSE-oS13.1-i386 (openSUSE 13.1). This one works
already fine, but with different users. So I can exlude mistakes in my

Windows XP SP2 on a Samba 3.0.10 PDC - roaming profiles won't work
Hi All,
I am having some trouble getting Windows XP with SP2 connected to a
Samba 3.0.10-based domain controller. With SP1, I only had to change a
single registry key to prevent Windows from demanding a signed
connection, then it worked.
But with SP2, and the same samba-configuration, I have noticed that upon
log-off, the user's profile is updated by the user "root" of the group

Windows 10 with Samba PDC and Roaming profiles
Hello,
I'm using an openSUSE server with Samba Version 4.1.18-3.33.2-3407 and
Windows 7 Professional clients for years without problems.
Now I have 5 PC with a freshly installed Windows 10 Professional on it.
On the Windows 10 machines I only changed the two registry keys[1] and
set up the switch "max protocol = nt1" in "/etc/samba/smb.conf" on the
server side.

I have, several times, read the aforementioned reference. I followed
it, as it existed at the time, to the best of my understanding when I
set up the domain in October 2016. Roaming profiles have been working

Unable to load roaming profiles samba-4.3 FreeBSD
I am seeing these in smb.log and each time I do it appears that the
user in question is unable to retrieve their roaming profile. Does
anyone know what is going on and more importantly, how to cure it?

PDC, BDCs - how do you synchronize roaming profiles?
Hello,
I'm about to deploy Samba PDC and several BDCs.
As far as I understand Samba and domain logons, this means that a user
will be able to log onto any server, with his workstation choosing a
domain controller that is probably the closest/fastest etc. one.
As a consequence, this also means, that on each server there has to be a
copy of a profile of a given user, right?
If so, how can

Roaming Profiles Refuse to Load on MS Windows Clients
I am unable to get roaming profiles to work correctly when using a Samba
3.0.1 server with Windows 2000 and XP Pro clients. The MS Windows
clients will only load the default profile but will stubbornly refuse to
load their profile from the Samba server, even though when the user logs
off, their profile is correctly written to /home/samba/profiles/username.
I have even tried the following
