Can't initialise locking module - exiting
Afternoon, I'm running OpenBSD 3.1, and since being informed that since 2.2.3a contains a bug I should upgrade to 2.3.4 - which I've done. I've installed this from source, and havn't seen any reason to believe the build process didn't work properly (Other than having duplicated binaries in /usr/local/samba/bin/ and in /usr/source_distributions/samba-2.2.4/source/bin/smbd

digikam and mp3 sound on RHEL
Hi All; after years of running free Linux distros I've finally come to a place where I must have solid stability for my work laptop so I've purchased RHEL Workstation. I like it well enough - however I'd like to install digikam and get my system to play mp3's. I'm thinking I could get both of these from a centos repository. What do you'all think? If so, could

playing mp3's
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 My main system is Fedora. To get mp3's working I added freshrpms to my yum.conf file. This allowed me to install xmms-mp3. Should I add freshrpms to CentOS? I searched google and didn't find much on this topic. If there is another way to get mp3's and other multimedia working I would like to know. - -- You can get my public PGP key at

Question about artist name display
All of my MP3's on my computer are categorized in folders named by the artist. I don't have any id tags on my MP3's. So all that is shown is the song title in the status section. My question is, is there any way to have icecast go out and grab the folder name so that the artist name will appear in the status window? Also I use an m3u playlist to do the job. thanks Chris

slim server for moh
Hello, I have installed SlimServer for Windows on my desktop and Asterisk on a Red Hat Linux machine. I am able to play mp3's for music on hold when mp3s are on the Linux server, and to play streaming mp3's with Windows Media Player and Winamp on Windows using the slim server. I also have mpg123 on my Linux, apparently installed correctly, since it works for local moh. I put the

GCC bug affects playback?
Hey Oggers, I have a RedHat 7.1 machine at home, and a 6.2 system at work. After seeing Monty's announcement of the GCC optimize bug, I compiled my ogg-tools package at home with RedHat's 2.96 gcc (the errata version, not the original buggy version). I have no problems playing encoded ogg files on my home machine--they sound great. At work, I have the binary RPMs from vorbis.com,

I'm not entirely sure. Certainly, playback is flawless with Winamp. Every now and then, Ices seems to just stop, and swallow up all my CPU. I'm not sure if this was caused by my

mp3player not working
Hi, I'm running the latest Asterisk (built last Saturday) and can't get mp3's to playback on my handsets (this includes music on hold). I setup a couple of extensions, 901 and 902 to playback an mp3 I loaded on, and the sample moh that is included with Asterisk. When I attempt to call either extension I don't hear any sound, and the following displays on the console:

Music on hold quality..
Hi, Does any one have any pointers on improving moh quality?? Symptoms are crackling and hissing as the sound comes and goes.. I installed mpg123 this morning.. I have tried various MP3's sampled at 160k, 128k, 32k and 8k and they all sounded terrible... The PC is a P4 so its got plenty of processing power.. I have tried a few different types of classical music (Piano, Violin and full

re-encoding on the fly?
I've written up a nice streaming jukebox so I can listen to my mp3's and ogg's from anywhere with a net connection. I even got it set up so you can re-encode mp3's on the fly by calling lame and using stdout as the output. I've found a program ( http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/ogg.html ) called ogg2ogg which basically is oggenc combined with oggdec, allowing you to

Direct MP3 channel Black Hole?
I'm curious is it possible to direct a call to an extension that takes you straight to music on hold, but NOT the standard music on hold. The boss suggested something he wondered if it was possible. Example: Someone calls (Telemarketer), we answer tell them to hold while we 'redirect' them to extension (Someone Important) 666 which is a separate music on hold pool of mp3's from

client not displaying metadata on current song
Hello, I've got icecast2.31 and ices 0.4 streaming a static playlist of mp3's. I can connect with winamp version 5, and i see and hear the currently playing song. When that song goes to the next one title doesn't change, checking it in the ices.log file the information is updated appropriately. I've tried setting public to 1 in ices.conf, but that didn't do it. I'm
