samba through a firewall
Hi
I have samba installed & running successfully on a Solaris 8 server.
directory shares were working as expected until the machine was put on a
DMZ, and now it's stopped working. I can ping from my PC to the server, and
telnet, but samba seems to have no route through the firewall - possibly the
firewall needs to have different ports opened up to allow samba traffic
through? I need to

PDC and BDC with LDAP and Samba 2.2.4
Hi,
I'm trying to build a PDC and BDC to elimenate Windows NT on a
network and have load balancing and fault tolerence for users.
I've compiled samba 2.2.4 on two servers, working with openldap 2.0.23
with a master and a slave. Replication on LDAP servers works fine.
I've set up a domain controller and wanted to set the other server
as BDC in case the PDC goes down. Each time i put

[LLVMdev] Data dependence analysis
Hi all!
I have recently finished the first prototype of data dependence analysis
for LLVM. Now that I have some more time I would like to prepare a
"production" version. In this post I'll try to describe the current
state and propose a work plan.
Currently, the analysis has a very simplified interface (it allows to
query for dependence between two given instructions or whether a

Hy guys!
I have a problem with my samba configuration. I really hope you can help me
out here, since I am pretty new to Linux and still try to figure it out.
So, here it goes:
I hava a "server" running SuSE 8.0 and should work as a firewall and
printserver.
I started out setting up the homes share, which works like a dream. Next the
printer. Installed the printer with cups, test,

Hi,
- Cortex-A8 needs a specific instruction scheduler as dual issue forces
you to interleave some instructions to allow to run two instructions in
the same cycle for the best performance (Cortex-A9 is out-of-order so
dual issue is not an issue (!) for performance).
- Cortex-A8/A9 have several useful new instructions : for instance, bit
operations like bitfield insertion/extraction or having

Problem with win2k and winXP
Hello,
I have a network, where users want to login with their same username from
Windows 2000 and from Windows XP on a samba PDC.
When the machines logon, I can see the OS in the logfile of the machine on
my server, but i cannot use different profiles for Win2k and WinXP, because
the %a in smb.conf always gives back Win2k.
The profiles of win2k and winXP aren't compatible, so i can't just

My goal is to have Cortex-A9 support complete in far less than three
months. I've recently gotten some additional help toward that goal, so
the pace should pick up soon.
As far as compiler texts, there are many newer texts to recommend as
just about all the major optimization passes are done differently
after SSA-form appeared in about 1991. However, for adding Cortex-A8
support, I don't

FYI: Simple Small Asterisk install..
Hi,
If anyone is looking for a small Asterisk installation I have managed to
get it down to 296MB (If you remove the kernel source code.. could
probably be made smaller if some of the devel packages and asterisk
source is removed as well.)
To do it I used Trustix Secure Linux 2.0 (http://www.trustix.net), did a
minimum install with ssh support(92MB) and then added the required
packages

I'm running samba 2.0.7 on Solaris 2.6. We've have terrific success for well over a year with samba until about a week ago I started receiving reports that users could not open MS Office docs saved on a samba share. The samba logs are full of information about oplocks like this:

Win2K and Samba
Has anyone tried using Windows 2000 Professional with Samba? I'm
checking it out now, and when I try to connect to a share, I get an
error message similiar to the one you get with Win98 and NT4 with SP3+
with encrypted passwords.
Does anyone know the equivelant registry path to set plain text passwords? The NT4 path doesn't seem to exist:

ACL ignored on cifs mounted share
Hello,
I have the problem that the ACLs are ignored when I mount a share via
cifs. I have an AD with Samba 4.1.6 Ubuntu 14.04 (but I also tried it
with Gentoo and samba 4.1.14). So I joined a member server like the wiki
describes. Everything works fine. I can manage the users and permissions
with the RSAT tools. For the linux side I use rfc2307 and winbind on the
member. So every user and

Collecting _all_ ssh keys
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA512
Hello,
I read and find a way (well, there seems to be several equal
implementations) to collect the ssh keys of machines. However they all
give only the choice to choose between the key formats.
But is there a way to collect both keys of a machine, the rsa _and_ the
dss key (and maybe the rsa1 too)? I didn''t find a way to solve this as
