Power Failures or Spikes
Hi all, My server is connected to a UPS but whenever there is a power failure or spike it seems that once all the clients come back up they cannot connect. I have to restart the server each time. This is no hardship but I was just wondering if anybody had the same problem and if so and they fixed it, how? Thanks Tom Ansley

Vegemite Function is Cowardly refusing

Indicator Species analysis; trouble with multipatt
Hi Ansley It looks good to me but I did not run the analysis as I am too lazy to install "indicspecies". The inclusion of the raw data is a great help. Indicator Species analysis; trouble with multipatt
Hi Ansely, As Jim points out we really need some sample data to go with the code. Have a look at ?dput which is the best way to supply sample data here or have a look at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5963269/how-to-make-a-great-r-reproducible-example and/or http://adv-r.had.co.nz/Reproducibility.html for some general suggestions on asking questions here---including discussions of using

Power outage and now cannot connect
Hi all, We've just had a power outage and the pc's can now no longer connect to the server. The server had power backup and did not go down which seems strange. Now when I try to connect the error message in smbd.log is smbd/connection.c:yield_connection(62) yield_connection: tdb_delete failed with error Record does not exist. and on the workstation it denies access citing security

Permissions Problem (?)
Hello, I'm an inexperienced Linux / Samba user attempting to get some simple networking going with various versions of Windows. Running Samba 3.0.14a-2 on a 'freebie magazine' fedora install. I appear to have a what I think is a permissions problem, but could(?) be username or password related. I can see my shares on all of my Windows clients (2k,xp and 98). I can read from them,

new to samba
hello I just installed redhat 7.2 and I want to get samba working. I read the man file for smb.conf but there's a question that I just can't figure out. This is what I have : I have a LAN with two win2k workstations and a linux box. This is what I would like to do: I would like to to have each user have access to a public folder and to their own home folder. How do I do that?

want to ban XP Home Edition
Just for sake of curiosity: Is that possible ? I'd like to support XP Pro *only* and to ban any other Windows OS (no 2000 server or 2003 server machines in here). Samba works in domain mode with Ldap backend. Cheers, -- Michal Kurowski perl -e '$_=q#: 13_2: 12/o{>: 8_4) (_4: 6/2^-2; 3;-2^\2: 5/7\_/\7: 12m m::#; y#:#\n#;s#(\D)(\d+)#$1x$2#ge;print'

Is it possible to use spandsp and patton to do fax2mail ?
Hi, I succesfully install spandsp chan_misdn and digium card. the rxfax works fine and I get the fax result by email. I would like to do the same using a Patton gw + zaptel but I can't receive fax anymore, the call comes in from ISDN in the Patton gw, patton sends it to asterisk, asterisk run a macro to make a tif file using rxfax, the tif file is correctly created but with a 0 size the call

named is up but does not respond to queries
CentOS 4.1/bind-9.2.4-2. I have named serving as a cache DNS server plus SOA for a local intranet zone. The problem I am encountering - over a period of time it stops responding to queries. nmap scan from a different host shows port 53 is visible. I can telnet to the port but all queries to server time out. So much so that "service named status" and "service named

There's no password.

delay in establishing network connectivity
hello, centos 7 If the system (wired static IP#) is powered down and stayed powered down for some period: let say 48 hours or so .... when it is rebooted again it can not establish a network connectivity for some time: 7 to 15 minutes and then everything network wise is fine... I am unable to spot any errors in various system logs. If you think this is on the OS/system side .... where do you

One samba, two interfaces
Is it possible to have a samba listen on different interfaces for different NETBIOS names specific to that interface? I have a samba listening to eth0 and eth1, which are two interfaces on the same network. Even when I use smbclient to the ip address of eth1, smb.conf's %h gives me the eth0 hostname, so it doesn't seem I can do any include trickery to make this work. Is it even

Network is busy
Ok, I've gone through the list archives, and there's a bunch of questions, but no answers. I'm referring to the Error: Network is busy when logging in from both Win95 (a and b versions) and Win98. It seems to never give this message unless the Windoze machine has been rebooted forcefully - it seems as if the samba server hasn't realized that the client has left, and is locking
