Compiling Samba3.0.0 on Solaris2.6
Hi, I've been trying to compile up Samba with active-directory support.
I've got Solaris2.6, gcc, openldap-2.1.22 and MIT kerberos5 1.3.1
ldap and kerberos are all compiled up happily.
Running ./configure --with-ads on Samba configures things OK, and the
result is:
Using libraries:
LIBS = -lsec -lgen -lresolv -lsocket -lnsl
KRB5_LIBS = -L/usr/local/lib -lgssapi_krb5 -lkrb5

winbindd not working - linux s/390
Hello all,
i'm testing 2.2.4.
it seems winbindd is not working on our system (linux Suse 7.3 s/390)
the config is exactly the same as with 2.2.3a, which worked fine.
from a windows client i can connect to the samba server, and see the shares.
but, once i want to connect to a share, it asks me for a password and won't
accept the correct one. It looks as if winbindd stops working then.

compiz --replace ccp & AND libIndirectGL.so.1- Conundrum
Listmates,
I am narrowing down the reason that compiz will not autostart on my
Toshiba P35 laptop running openSuSE 10.3.
There seems to be a mutual exclusion between being able to do manual
start with "compiz --replace ccp &" and having compiz start at all with
"libIndirectGL.so.1" present in /usr/lib.
To get compiz to start on my system, I must manually rename the

an RPM conundrum
I have an interesting chicken-and-egg problem that I hope someone can help me
out of.
I have a machine on which I originally loaded White Box. I subsequenty
converted to CentOS using the instructions found numerous times in the group
-- e.g. get the redhat-package RPM (thus changing /etc/redhat-release), then
configuring yum and then yum -y upgrade.
Everything has been going fine... that

Hangup conundrum with RxFAX
Heres something that's making me scratch my head... I'm using RxFAX on
ISDN lines and in-general it's going well.
However, there seems to be a case when the fax doesn't get delivered, but
looking through the CDRs it seems that the call happened, RxFAX was
executed .. time passed (1-2+ minutes) then hangup.
I'm wondering if some FAX machines just hangup after the call

FC4 + nut => shutdown sequence conundrum
Summary
=======
I have encountered problems with the nut shutdown sequence using the
directory structure in the packages for Fedora Core 4.
These problems occur when the /var file system is mounted as a separate
volume.
I have done some investigation and think that I have an answer, but I need
verification from someone who has more experience from nut on a wider
variety of systems.
I want to

Simple indexing conundrum
My apologies in advance for my thickness but I can't seem to solve the
following, seemingly simple, data manipulation problem:
I have a data frame that contains multiple factors and multiple
continuous response variables, but duplicates of some factor
combinations. The duplicates contain bad data, so I would like to
eliminate the duplicates. I would like to retain the entire rows

Issues with exposing USB serial dongle to guest VM
Hi.
I have Centos 7 (updated) running as my host, and I?m using Qemu and KVM, version 2.0.0 and 2.6.0.
I have a Trendnet TU-S9 USB serial dongle attached to the host, which uses the Prolific 2303 chipset.
I blacklisted the pl2303 driver so the host doesn?t grab the device, and want to expose it to the guest.
On the client, I see 2 USB hubs (3.0 and 2.0), and I see 2 USB endpoints (even though

Quicken 2004 Report windows
Hi,
I'm currently running Wine-20040505. Quicken 2004 Premier Edition
runs very well on this version except for reports. There are some
reports that display jsut fine and other that don't display at all. Ant
transaction summary report that I do causes Quicken and the report
window to minimize. When I maximize them by hand the report window
appears to be all black and I cannot

Application Design Question
I am designing an application to run a fishing tournament I am
hosting. Each fish entered will be given a point total based on the
length of the fish and the species of fish. Each species has a point
multiplier. For Example Trout have a multiplier of 10 so a 20 inch
Trout would have a score of 200.
My conundrum is in where and when do I calculate the points. The
options I have come up

Power burn test
I need a program that will just run everything at max so I can measure
the max power used on some systems. My 'Kill a Watt' meter should show
up early next week.
SO run that CPU at max, using all memory, and keeping the harddrive
spinning.
I can jsut do pings on the lan card for it to stay awake.
I have searched here and on the net and have come back with nothing.

IPFW logging brokeness?
I don't think I'm trying to do anything amazing, but IPFW's logging
features are giving me a real headache. I can't find much in the
archives either, but I find it hard to believe others havne't found this
too.
My rule:
add 100 allow log tcp from any to <my IP> <ports> limit src-addr 2
I want connecting parties to be able to form no more than 2 connection.

[LLVMdev] Whole program compile/link
Hi,
I have a little conundrum. I want to bitcode link a whole program, but
I've run into a roadblock. During code generation on a processor that
doesn't support e.g. floating point, a floating point mul is turned into
a function call. This isn't known at bitcode linking time so the
appropriate bitcode for the mul isn't linked.
Is there a pass I can run that will do the
