samba as PDC with w2k clients
Hello! A good day to you all. i'm trying to set up samba(2.2.3a, right out of the rh7.3 cds) as a PDC. i've already read through the Samba-howto collection, and am confident that i've put in all the necessary samba options. /etc/samba/smb.conf: [global] netbios name = pdc1 workgroup = testing security = user domain logon = yes domain master = yes local master = yes domain admin

Fwd: Question about Network UPS Tools bcmxcp driver
Hi, Got this mail. It looks like he has a ups with revision before K, and need another startup. The 'PW_SET_REQ_ONLY_MODE' is not implemented, so to make it work we have to follow the protocol and send a 'PW_ID_BLOCK_REQ'. This in comsetup of bcmxcp_ser.c Also the standard id block ends with 'Statistics Map', so we have to Skip after reading the length of the 'Size

Samba 3.5.2 : root and Domain Admins membership
Hello All, i noticed something odd after setting up a Samba PDC/domain. Seems that i am able to add machines to the domain by using the root account, but when i log on as root, it has no privileges to modify settings on the computer, particularly the computer name and Workgroup/Domain settings(they're grayed out) i ran a net group "domain admins" /domain at the command prompt, and

PDC/BDC Questions (fwd)
Cool, thanks alot, I really appreciate your time. I'm extremely pleased with 3.0.x's stability, I don't think local segment failover is really going to be a huge issue. sorry, the darn reply to got me again ---------- Forwarded message ---------- can you remote regedit from linux? if so, you can execute on logon from the samba server a push of the keys, you can even make a queue of pushes that run only once. -jason pyeron On Tue, 28 Dec 2004, Danny Paul wrote: > The only thing I've tried with any success is to find the registry keys that > need

Fwd: PDC Upgrade 2.2.8a to 3
Hi, I'm going to attempt to upgrade our PDC from 2.2.8a to 3.0.10 sometime very soon. This is fairly mission critical as our 300+ clients rely on it for authentication. After reading around I propose the following steps to make the upgrade transparent (at least for the end users) : 1) install samba 3 alongside samba 2 on the PDC (seperate path etc). 2) run the samba 3 net getlocalsid

Hi Rowland Penny, Thank you for quick response. I have set 'max protocol = nt1' in PDC, but still same error. I changed registry values as suggested by samba wiki portal. our limitation is 'we must be use Redhat builtin samba packages only. Will it support Samba 4.2 version for Windows 10 Clients which is getting RHEL 7.2 builtin ? Present PDC production server is running on samba

Fwd: Not able to join windows 10 clients to samba 3.6.23 NT4 Style PDC
Hi Gaiseric, Thank you for quick reply. I configured my PDC as WINS server and specified "IP of PDC". I observed some errors in NMBD log, "become_domain_master_query failed". I am googling these errors. On Mon, May 16, 2016 at 6:57 PM, Gaiseric Vandal <gaiseric.vandal at gmail.com> wrote: > If this is an NT4-style domain, then DNS is not essential. Things like
