samba AIX / NT network issue
I'm running samba on an AIX 4.3.3 server which has NT4.0 SP6a clients
connecting. Since I've had so much trouble with it I compiled 2.2.4 with
GCC on the server and it didn't do any good. Grasping for straws I had our
netadmin come over and help me interpet what kinds of errors we were
receiving.
The symptom of the problem first off is that when the clients are browsing

Domain Authentication oddities
Hello List,
I am running Samba 3.0.10-1.4E on RHEL 4.0. I was able to join this server
to the domain using the 'net ads join' command and it created a machine
account in AD with the name of the server. My issue is that I can
authenticate using domain credentials when I access the server from a
Windows computer using //SMBSERVERNAME/SHARE, however when I access the
server using

Can't access Samba server with NetBIOS Name but OK with IP
Hi, folks
I installed samba 3.0.21b-2 with winbind on a Fedora 5 server. I edited 5 files (show below) and join Windows AD by "net join ADS" command.
It worked in the first month. I could access to folders with appropriate permission. Then I found I couldn't access to the server by keying-in "\\smbservername". A pop-up Windows box say "Incorrect password or unknown

Re: samba digest, Vol 1 #1924 - 22 msgs
I had a similar issue on my Debian box. It seemed that setfacl didn't
care for special characters. I changed the separator character to -
(dash) instead of + or \ and it worked fine.
Good luck!

question re: "summarry.lm" and NA values
Is there a way to get the following code to include
NA values where the coefficients are ?NA??
((summary(reg))$coefficients)
explanation:
Using a loop, I am running regressions on several
?subsets? of ?data1?.
?reg <- ( lm(lm(data1[,1] ~., data1[,2:l])) )?
My regression has 10 independent variables, and I
therefore expect 11 coefficients.
After each regression, I wish to save the

In factor analysis in the psych package, how can I work out which factors the columns in $scores relate to? How do I know what each of the scores is scoring?
Hi
I have used fa() to perform a factor analysis of a psychological battery which is thought to have 11 factors. I can identify which factors the loadings relate to easily enough because I can see which items are loading onto each of the columns in the $loading output. However, how can I identify which items or loadings are being used to create each of the columns in the $scores output? I have

locking problems with samba 2.2.1a
Hello all,
I have a samba 2.2.1a server running as the PDC of my
network on a Mandrake 8.0 system with a reiserFS
partition. I am serving for the win98 clients a small DOS
clipper program with a DBF database. The programs run
well on the workstations when there is only one user
using it, when another user try to use the same program
it starts to get very slow. I think this is a lock

Data corruption with samba 2.2.1a (resolved)
Following up to my earlier report of possible data corruption with Samba
2.2.1a... Turns out it was a bug in my own network rendering software. Samba
was working fine all along. Sorry for the trouble.

Data corruption with samba 2.2.1a
I've been using Samba 2.0.7-4 (Redhat RPM) successfully on a Linux machine
to share files with a few Win2K clients. Just recently I compiled and
installed Samba 2.2.1a. It seemed to work fine for a while, but occasionally
one of the Windows machines would save a corrupted file to the server...
This mainly happened with a Windows 3D rendering program I use, which
periodically saves 1MB image

browsing users/groups in 2.2.1a
Hi folks,
I have Samba 2.2.1a running as our PDC, and I go to make a share on my Win
2000 dev box (ie. this is NOT a smb share; my box is just querying the pdc
for a list of domain users and groups). When it lists the specific users and
groups, I only see user names, not any groups that exist on PDC.
1. How do I get groups to show up (for instance, let's say the PDC's
/etc/group has a

Samba 2.2.1a and named pipes
Can Samba write to named pipes ? I am using Netsaint/Nagios for system
monitoring and the command file to write system commands to is implemented
as a named pipe. I can write normal files to the directory but whenever I
try and write to the pipe I get access denied.
Thanks.

Trust relationship lost in 2.2.1a repeatedly !
Hi All,
I have been using samba 2.2.1a as the PDC, as a logon server for about 100 machines.
Till now it has been fine, But for last 2 days all of sudden the trust relationship is lost
from few random machines. Then we again have to reregister with SAMBA domain.
When first time one m/c logins these are the logs.
