Profiles XP and Service Pack 1
Hi List,
we have a 130+ PC network running windows XP on the clients, with win2000
and
samba servers (SuSE 7.3 distribution rpm for samba 2.2.3 and SuSE 8.0
selfcompiled samba 2.2.5).
The windows servers just authenticate the users, and provide some additional
services (Terminal Server and some special software packages). Print- and
File-
services are provided by the samba servers.

Help - Moutning XP Drives on Linux box using.
Hey all.
I've got four computers in a small network (Actually more, but keeping it
simple to get to the point)
1> Linux Server (RH7.3) Running Samba (Default version with RH7.3)
2> Windows 2000 Workstation
3> Windows XP Pro.
4> Windows 98SE
All of the windows boxes can connect, without problems, to the SAMBA server,
and all the shares. No problems

Memdisk booting XP DOS
Memdisk 2.08 does not appear to be able to boot an XP DOS image (it starts
to boot and then hangs). XP DOS appears to be borrowed from WinME
(v4.90.3000). I was trying to make a multiple boot CD with Bart's method:
http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#multimemdisk
but substituting Brads TCP boot disk instead of Barts:

Brad uses XPs DOS as it

Removal of Non-KMS support
I did a very quick pass at removing all the non-KMS support from the
DDX. It's tested on G80 but nowhere else currently, I thought some
discussion would be a good idea rather than just ripping it out :)
The non-KMS paths are messy, and lets face it, rotting badly. IMO the
KMS code is stable enough now that we can continue without the UMS
crutch, and indeed, the KMS code supports a lot more

patched it with the festival-1.4.2.diff located in the /usr/src/asterisk/ folder . When I patched it, the patch was looking

Package crashes R under Windows Vista
Dear all,
Please, please I really need your help, since I am not able to solve the
problem myself:
It seems that until now most Windows users of my Bioconductor package
"xps" use Windows XP, but recently a user tried to use it on Windows
Vista where it crashed R immediately. Since I assume that some users may
migrate to the upcoming Windows 7 where the problem will be the same, I

Compiler options for Makefile.win
Dear all,
For certain reasons I have to compile the source code of my package on
Windows XP using Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0, thus I had to create a
"Makefile.win". Now I have a question regarding compiler options /MT vs
/MD for Makefile.win.
The following partial output shows that when building my package on
Windows XP using "R CMD build --binary xps" with compiler

[net-next PATCH V2] virtio-net: switch to use XPS to choose txq
We used to use a percpu structure vq_index to record the cpu to queue
mapping, this is suboptimal since it duplicates the work of XPS and
loses all other XPS functionality such as allowing use to configure
their own transmission steering strategy.
So this patch switches to use XPS and suggest a default mapping when
the number of cpus is equal to the number of queues. With XPS support,

XP logins
Hi all,
today happened very strange thing to me. I'm running Samba 3.0.1 on Debian.
Today users called me that machines with XP has problems to work on the
network. I haven't changed configuration for 1 month...
Users on XPs can logon into domain, but when they try, after logon, to open
ANY share on Samba server, it locks up (explorer has no response] for about
5
minutes and after that

What RH-like on a Dell XPS 15 (9590)?
Hello there,
I've just got a Dell XPS 15 (9590) at work and need to set up a stable
GNU/Linux system on it. I thought of CentOS7, but.. obviously its
kernel can't run on this hardware.
What would you recommend? Waiting for CentOS8 is not an option unless
it's a question of few weeks. Are there respins of the CentOS7 DVDs w/
more top-recent kernels? I'm know of Fedora 26 or

Quick Question
Apologies if there is a cleanly written and searchable FAQ that I could be
directed to. I have no problem to RTFM if I can find the FM...
Does Asterisk currently operate under RH9? I have IBM Netfinity 4000R
servers that do not support X windows under RH8.x and I prefer not to go
back to RH7.3...
BTW, where would I find a useful FM?

Starting WINE
I have RTFM but it is limited on offering help when a problem crops up for a noob who is not a programmer.
I DL and installed the WINE program on my Ubuntu 7.10 and can see it on the Applications. Selecting 'Configure Wine' brings up the 'grey' screen but nothing I do to it seems to function.
I opened the terminal and typed 'winecfg' and stuff happens like: 'bob at
