Smbd processes out of control
In the past few months we have seen a couple of our production servers
crash that are running samba-3.0.14a-1. What seems to happen is the
smbd pid's seem to grow and grow until an out of memory error occurs and
the smbd process just hangs. A simple restart does not even clear out
the pid's. I end up rebooting to just clear it all out and start
fresh. It probably has happened at

MS Access and Samba Problem
hello,
I hope someone can help me with this problem because it is really unique
and odd... or at least it seems to me. I can't find any references
anywhere as to anyone else having the same trouble.
Here is the story:
I have a machine running RH 7.1 and samba 2.2.3a as our PDC for the
Network. This box also serves other purposes such as Name server, dhcp
server, internal web server, and

- Win2k local groups and domain groups on linux PDC
I am currently running Samba 2.2.4 on a RH 7.1 box acting as a PDC with two Win2k test clients attaching to it. Users authenticate to the PDC via an LDAP server running on the PDC and that works ok. I can also join the domain with no problems. What I am trying to accomplish is to have a domain user or better yet a group of domain users, be able to log into the win2k box and have the linux

loading printers
I just configured a server to use the CUPS printing system and have all
my printers shared out by Samba. I made all the necessary changes to
the smb.conf file but don't want to restart samba in the middle of the
day since it is a high traffic server and don't want to break
connections. Is there a way to just have samba load all these printers
without restarting the service????

Virtual (server) connetion manager ?
well,
If I wish to setup 3 servers (physical) with XeN and to put 3x OS images
(Suse) on each with different DB, how can I control networks connection
within them and also to them from other users from real world ?
Of course, also I plan to made synchronization within them and physical data
storage...Migration ;)
So, what will be your suggestion ?
What kind of manage (server) use for network

Loopback connetion issue
Hi,
I''m experiencing some troubles with an application in a VM (domain-1) which needs to connect too itself via the loopback interface.
It seems that the connection process hang during the TCP handshake.
I have a running web server in this VM which run perfectly.
Logged in Domain-1, i''ve tried to reach the webserver with telnet but the same problem happens.
Even pinging the

Hanging SMBD processes - Samba CRASHING
Hi folks,
We have been experiencing problems with one of our Samba servers here
for a while now and need a little help. First off we are running Fedora
Core 3, kernel version 2.6.12-1, and Samba version 3.0.20b. Our hardware
is a RAID 5 DELL PowerEdge 700 server. The problem I am about to
describe has occurred on this server in previous versions of samba prior
to version 3.0.20b and has the

smbpasswd to LDAP
Is there a way to take users samba passwords from an old 2.x Samba server, and
insert them into a new 3.x Samba server that using an LDAP backend? The new
server is already populated with all users and groups in LDAP and is currently
on a test network. All that is needed is the users samba passwords from the
old server that is using the smbpasswd file.
Thanks

Samba-2.2.3a and Win95?
Hi out there again,
i just installed Samba-2.2.3a as a PDC
on a Solaris-Box (2.6) and encounter Problems with Windows95
Logons. log.nmbd says:

Smbd hanging
Problem
------------
SMBD processes spawn out of control until the Samba stops responding.
Restarting the service does not clear the processes. Only a reboot of
the server will bring it back to a usable state.
This server is home to our postgres databases, Access front ends, and
Production Files (excel, word...). It is a samba domain member server.
We have multiple Samba file servers

How to maintain class signature in splom
All,
I was having trouble trying to create a new class of data and pass it on to splom (in the lattice library). I mentioned this to Martin Morgan after a talk he gave. Following is not so much a question, but rather an answer from Morgan that might be useful to others. Here is the edited part of an email conversation with him:

Obtaining value of median survival for survfit function to use in calculation
Hi,
I'm sure this should be simple but I can't figure it out! I want to get the median survival calculated by the survfit function and use the value rather than just be able to print it. Something like this:
library(survival)
data(lung)
lung.byPS = survfit(Surv (time, status) ~ ph.ecog, data=lung)
# lung.byPS
Call: survfit(formula = Surv(time, status) ~ ph.ecog, data = lung)

答复: Iptables blocks out going connetion some times
Hello, Stephen, thank you for input.
Yes, these servers have the same firewall rules, and both of them have the same problem from time to time, most of time they are good.
Actually, these servers are newly installed to be used as the Glusterfs storage server, so not much data flowing at this time.

survreg and pweibull
Dear all -
I have followed the thread the reply to which was lead by Thomas
Lumley about using pweibull to generate fitted survival curves for
survreg models.
http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/04/11/7766.html
Using the lung data set,
data(lung)
lung.wbs <- survreg( Surv(time, status)~ 1, data=lung, dist='weibull')
curve(pweibull(x, scale=exp(coef(lung.wbs)),

Weibull survival regression
Dear R users,
Please can you help me with a relatively straightforward problem that I
am struggling with? I am simply trying to plot a baseline survivor and
hazard function for a simple data set of lung cancer survival where
`futime' is follow up time in months and status is 1=dead and 0=alive.
Using the survival package:
lung.wbs <- survreg( Surv(futime, status)~ 1, data=lung,

Iptables blocks out going connetion some times
Hi?guys.
There is a wierd problem with iptables recently, hopes somebody can help me.
I have installed Centos 7.2.1511 on a bare metal Dell server these days,
disabled firewalld and enabled iptables.services, and setup a group of very
simple rules, as the following:
