browsing multiple workgroups on multiple subnets
Is it possible to browse multiple workgroups on two or more subnets?
I have set up samba on either end of a VPN and can browse successfully from
either end, but only in the workgroup that samba is configured for. Can
Samba be a member of more than one workgroup at the same time? Looking in
browse.dat I can see all the machines in samba's workgroup and also the
other workgroups, but not the

samba as client, adding to browse list
Well, I've poked around the documentation without any success...
I've got several samba servers running, but I've never been required to deal
with Samba as a client on a workstation until now. The workstation is RH
7.2, Samba-common 2.2.1a and it's on a LAN with a 2.2.0 server and a pile of
winXX workstations (no NT). KDE is the X environment.
I needed to get linpopup going to

AutoCAD temp file error
I rather doubt this is a samba problem, but perhaps someone can offer a
hint to solve the issue...
Running AutoDesk Land Development Desktop (AutoCAD with add-ons
essentially). The project data files are on the Samba server. A dozen
WinXX workstations work flawlessly with this configuration (other than
typical windows issues). A win2k workstation was recently added to the
mix and it works

Win2k, Domain logon, permissions
I first asked this question at the end of October, got a response which
didn't solve the problem, and have finally got back to the issue now.
I'm running 2.2.7a, recently upgraded from 2.2.0 as Domain Logons for
Win2K were suspected to be part of my problem. Anyway, the issue
relates to AutoCAD (actually a vertical product called Land3) and a
command which works with winXX boxes, but

Not able to connect to shares w/ cli
Hello,
I am currently unable to connect to any win98 shares from linux using
the command 'mount -t smbfs //share/c /mnt/example'. I am able to
connect using gnomba though. What does gnomba do differently than the
command I am issuing and why does mount fail?
Thanks,
sean

Some Netbios Name Lookups Exhibit Long Delay
Maybe someone has been through this already and can provide a
solution... I don't see anything in my Google searches or in the
O'Reilly troubleshooting section.
Running 2.2.8a with LDAP on Redhat 9, up to date with all the RHN patches.
Samba coordinates browse lists with another Samba box on a remote
network (via a VPN).
All workstations on both subnets use my local Samba box for WINS,

Calculating home ranges using mcp in adehabitat
Hello,
I've been trying to calculate home range sizes (for Icelandic geese!) using
minimum convex polygons with the adehabitat package. I've tried to use the R
code shown by demo(homerange) in adehabitat and when that didn't work I've
fiddled around with it but to no avail...Below is the output of the demo
that I've attempted to follow, followed by a subset of my data (for one

Fwd: Re: 2.2 release imminent.
Okay, I sent this a while back, and the current source still exhibits all
the previous errors. Is there a chance this can be fixed? Even fixing the
check for dn_expand in resolv.so would help ...

Performance, dovecot vs tpop3d
Hello, I am new to the list and have spent extensive time researching
performance suggestions through the list and the
documentation. Particularly interesting is the recent performance
thread related to the upcoming release.
I just upgraded one of our email servers from tpop3d to dovecot
1.0rc19. tpop3d has served us well for many years; however, it
basically has lost all it's support

2.2 release imminent.
Well, as Andrew shouted at me again this weekend it's getting
to be about that time.... :-) :-).
Yep, we're thinking we should do an official 2.2 Samba release
early next week, so if you have anything you can't live
with, now would be a good time to tell us....
:-).
It's been gestating longer than an elephant, so it's really
time to let it out into the world and do its own

Re: annoying network problem
Hi,
I have a problem with networking under XEN, I hope someone can help me
out. The problem is that after some time (a day or so) the network
suddenly stops working, and it takes some waiting and/or a reboot to fix
this.
I''m running XEN 3.1.0-rc7 on an Intel Core2 (x86_64). It''s a Fedora 8
system, with the following packages:

New RH7.2 rpms for R-hdf5 support available
HDF5 is a high quality data storage format from NCSA
(http://hdf.ncsa.uiuc.edu/index.html) Marcus Daniels of the Swarm
Development Group has made available an R library called hdf5 which
allows loading and saving of data in hdf5 format. The source for his
library is here:

Getting Closer
I've got to the point where my Windows Machines can ping the Netbios name
of my Linux Box.
But I still can't join the NT domain or mount a share (my ultimate goal)
from that domain.
I've added a machine account on the NT PDC.
Whenever I use SMBPASSWD -j DOMAIN -r PDC it tells me it can't resolve
PDC... I've even tried adding the -R bcast option to (if I understand it

Newbie: IE5.5
howdy,
i am very new to WINE and have looked around for some docs on howto get
IE5.5 running, but can't seem to find anything straight foward. i just
installed RH7.2, and am running Ximian GNOME, without a Windows partition.
WINE is apparently installed by default with RH7.2. i tried the simple
'archnid' (solitaire) program and seemed to work ok. however, i have the
IE5.5 executable,

PXEBoot with network options forcing adapter to full duplex.
Hi Brock,
I'm trying set full duplex on a server that is being
pxeboot/provisioned via autoyast. We want to ensure
the duplex is full DURING the autoyast provisioning
itself.
I've played the syslinux configs to specify the
bcm5600 driver, but was having trouble with setting
the network options. I've tryed appending them as
well, but nothing on the internet seems to indicate
