issues with version 2.2.2
Hi --
Does anyone have any strong comments either
positively or negatively about the new version 2.2.2
running on Solaris 2.7 or 2.6?
I have been running version 2.2.1 since August and
have been having some really unusual behavior with
random denial for some users from some machines at
random times. Is there any evidence that 2.2.2
might help with this?

log messages to a specific file
I am trying to configure syslog.conf to send messages from one of my hosts
to a select file for that host. The host is currently sending messages to
the syslog server and they are being logged but I would like to have all
the messages from this host go to a separate file. FreeBSD 4.9-RELEASE

TEST 3
If you get a "connection refused" response then the smbd server may
not be running. If you installed it in inetd.conf then you probably
edited
that file incorrectly. If you installed it as a daemon then check
that
it is running, and check that the netbios-ssn port is in a LISTEN
state using "netstat -a".
Note: You have xinetd not inetd on the redhat box. To avoid all

Troubleshooting inplace editor
I can''t get the inplace editor to do anything for me. The output appears as
regular formated, unclickable text. Maybe I am missing something simple.
1. I just downloaded script.aculo.us <http://script.aculo.us> 1.5_rc3 and
copied it to my javascript folder.
2. To set up a simple test, I created a new test page containing only the
copied from demo1 from the script.aculo.us

Sangoma A101 install problem
I just got a brand new A101 and am trying to install it in my test Asterisk
box.
The install went without a hitch. I followed the directions on the Sangoma
Wiki:
Wanpipe Asterisk Install
http://sangoma.editme.com/wanpipe-linux-asterisk-install
Wanpipe for Asterisk Configuration
http://sangoma.editme.com/wanpipe-asterisk-configure
It went perfect, no problems and Asterisk came up fine. I downed

Exim4 authentication patch
Hello all,
attached patch makes possible to use dovecot as an authentication
backend for Exim 4. Reasons beyond this patch are simple:
exim's authenticators require use of plaintext passwords and NTLM
code in exim is quite outdated and hairy.
Patch generated against Exim 4.43, but should apply to earlier
versions too.
Patch adds new 'dovecot' authenticator, which can be used as such:

resdiuals of random model estimated by plm function
Hi all,
I have estimated a random panel model using plm function.
I have a question about the vector of resduals obtained with the
object $residuals.
example:
data("Produc", package = "plm")
zz <- plm(log(gsp) ~ log(pcap) + log(pc) + log(emp) + unemp,
model="random", data = Produc, index = c("state","year"))
res<-zz$residuals #

Over 400 smbd pid's?
Over the past 2 days, my smbd processes are multiplying worse than
rabbits. At least with rabbits it's easy to tell why you wind up
with so many...
Here's the setup:
Samba version 3.2.8-0.24 installed via rpm on a FC6 box with 2 nics,
both on the same subnet. The samba server acts as a PDC in a mixed
environment but mostly windows pc's running xp. It is used mostly

Save output of Ajax.InPlaceEditor to a variable?
All,
The Ajax.InPlaceEditor control is nice but I''d like the ability to
read the changed value. Basically, I''m creating a form with editable
elements but it''s only when I do the submit that the form elements are
submitted. I''d still like to allow in-place editing but what I''d like
to do is get the new value and throw that in a hidden form variable

Samba/CUPS Windows Print Queue Not Showing Up
I have installed Samba-3.0.22 with CUPS on my Solaris 10 box. It prints
fine and shows up in my CUPS queue but active print jobs in my CUPS
queue don't show up in my Windows Print Driver queue on my client! I've
also tried not using CUPS and having it call lpstat but it still doesn't
work! When I run CUPS' lpstat in command line it can see the jobs. What
am I doing wrong?

Is this smbds in "D" state? If so, please contact RedHat. That's a
kernel bug, or something

Port 139 versus Port 445
I've noticed that my W2K clients connect to Samba much more quickly
if I run it on port 445 instead of 139. However, my WNT clients then
won't connect at all. I read somewhere that it was possible to forward
the requests on port 139 to port 445. Anyone know how to do this or how
to listen to both ports simultaneously?
Thanks,

Random intercept-slope correlation (nlme)
Dear list members,
I am working with a multilevel growth curve, that in its simplest form goes
like follows:
Yit = Ai + Bi t + eit (the error term is assumed to follow an AR(1)
autorregressive process)
One major topic in my research is the convergence in the values of Y over
time. Thus, I am interested in the relationship between the random effects
for the intercept and the slope, and I

Arrggg Samba is not behaving
Dear all,
A while ago I posted a message regading the way Samba is behaving
and some problems that I was facing with Windows "loosing"
the connection with the server...
Here is another sample of what my /var/log/messages still looks like:

Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
At Sangoma we do quite a lot of back-to back T1 and E1
connections. T1 is not a very fussy connection, as the baud
rate is only about 750 kbps.
In our experience, for error free communications you can use
the following rules of thumb:
Up to 50 ft: Flat patch cable
Up to 500 ft: Ordinary twisted telephone cable Cat 5 may be
overkill unless you are going hundreds of feet.
