I have even posted a previous message, which

Hi everyone, I'm trying to set up a Windows XP Pro client to connect to a Samba server (version 2.2.8) on a Redhat 8.0 linux box, but have been having trouble for the past 3 days. I have gone through Troubleshooting Samba at [http://us1.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/Samba24Hc13.pdf] but I can't figure out how to fix the problem. I suspect that the broadcast address may not be the same on both

Here's the setup in summary: system pdc is the PDC on subnet 192.168.0.0, running SuSE10.1, LDAP master, wins server, domain master browser, no iptables; system bdc is the BDC on subnet 192.168.2.0,

(smb.conf has security=user). Voyager can browse over to \\earth\share no problem. Recently I connected starbase to my LAN using a wireless router. When on starbase I cannot browse to \\earth\share. integrate print with windows, print administration from w2K/NT
Hi list, I'm working on a RH 7.2 non intel system which I'd like to do printserving for windows clients. I'm using samba 2.2.5-1 installed via RPM. Ideally the print administrator would manage access to the print-queues remotely from his win2k box. Am I understanding correctly, that if I hand-off user/group checks to winbind in my nsswitch.conf, that NT groups can be enforced

I'm configuring Samba on a Red Hat Linux 7.2 server, for access from a Windows 2000 client. My server name is DEMENTIA, and it's IP address is 192.168.0.5. I've confirmed with ifconfig that the server's broadcast address is 192.168.0.255. I'm having a problem with NMB that I seem to have isolated to the following symptoms - After starting NMBD, I can lookup the server name

SMB/NMBD configuration troubles.
Folks, I am stumped! I have followed every tech tip I could find and I am still unable to complete my SMB installation. Specifically, I fail Test 4 and Tests 9 and 10. I believe the problem has something to do with the NMBD configuration. Below are the parameters of our system. Any help is greatly appreciated. Using the DIAGNOSIS.txt I get to step 3 (I think) & execute the following command nmblookup -B servername _SAMBA_ the return is thus querying _SAMBA_ on 127.0.0.1 name_query failed to find name _SAMBA_ the text advises that nmbd is not installed correctly. Well I'm using xinetd

Background: I have 2 SMB Servers; one is configured to be the Preferred Master (fserver), the other (upstairs) is configured to just share some files. I want it to connect and update the WINS configuration on the Preferred Master. Configuration files for both servers are attached. Also worth mentioning that both the 'fserver' and 'upstairs' reside on the same network. Some
