no mapping between account names and security ids was done
I use a openLDAP database for authentication on my Redhat 7.2 server. The
domain is "HOME". I have had no problem adding trust accounts and
authenticating against it.
Today I had to change the name of my Win2K workstation from poseiden to
poseiden1 for compatibility with a package I am testing. Once I changed it
and put in a new trust account, I could not rejoin the domain.
I gave up and

winbindd and ftp
Hello,
I setup samba2.2.2 with winbind. samba is a member of domain with
security=domain. Now both work well.
Since there is no user in /etc/passwd, and user information gets from PDC(a
win2000 server).
The question is: there is no /home/xxx directory too.(I don't want to make
it manually).
I can configure /etc/pam.d/login with :
session required /lib/security/pam_mkhomedir.

smbpasswd complains about LDAP: "Object class violation"
I'm trying to get Samba on a Mac OS X box running as a PDC with an
LDAP backend. I've read through all of the major walkthroughs I can
find, and we've actually already got it running very nicely as a file
server; people are currently authenticating against a different PDC
and then mapping drives from the Samba box in question.
However, I'd like it to be the PDC eventually, but

Workstation xxxx$: no account in domain
hi,
I've a problem with adding workstations to my samba/ldap pdc - if i add
the workstation with win2000 to the pdc then the workstation gets
registered in ldap with the following entry:

'Computer Account' -s /bin/false %u)
which seems to me to be ok, but the workstation tells me that it

No UID associated with this user name
Hi sorry if this is the wrong place to post but I'm not sure where to
go to and I'm a bit desperate.
We just brought our Sunfire 6800 server and Storedge 9960 RAID array
Solaris 8 back up after some maintenance and everything came back up
'clean' but I cannot get our SAMBA software to recognise any users or
directories when logging in remotely from an apple or windows box.

Windows XP joining Samba2.2.2 PDC
I'm trying to get a XP Pro computer to join my Samba 2.2.2 controlled
domain. I get an error something can't find the network? With this exact
configuration I can add Win2K computers no problem. I have the add user
script in my smb.conf file and I have also tried manually adding the
computer to /etc/passwd using useradd. Is there something I'm missing
for XP? Thanks.

looking for alternatives since having unencrypted passwords flying around
the network causes too big of a security hole. Is there a way I can make an
automated script that will sync the NIS passwd database with the smbpasswd
database for all users?
50% of the users won't use their shell account on this machine, but

Help Running am-main.pl Perl/CGI on Apache Server
Hi all,
I've installed Asterisk on Linux Red Had 9. Now, I was trying to set
up a GUI based system for the PBX.
I downloaded some packages, but I have to have Perl running CGI
scripts through the webserver. It does not allow me to.
I am able to run a basic script that just just prints out html
messages and nothing else. However, when I try to run am-main.pl or

Joel@HammersHome.com
Hello Joel,
Thank you very much for your reply.
I tried use the same print command under UNIX as I
have in sam.conf, it works well.
Do you have any futher ideas? BTW, could you tell me
where I find docs about print using Samba2.2.2 and
W2K?
Thanks a lot,
Grace
What happens when you print a postscript file from the
samba server directly
using the same print command as you have in smb.conf?
