Shorewall, FreeS/WAN, and IPSEC
>sample setups of freeswan working with shorewall? I just implemented this a few days ago. In my case it was the simple scenario of two private subnets (with different private network numbers!) already equipped with Shorewall firewalls on which I added Freeswan. The hardest part was being patient enough for the other end''s firewall (a 486= ) to compile the patched kernel. I basically

IPSec pass through
I''m getting insane here. I''m running shorewall 1.3.11 with iptables 1.2.5 and freeswan 1.97 on a 2.4.18-8 kernel aka MNF. The setup is a followed: Lan (192.168.1.x) - FW (eth1 192.168.1.254 - eth0 64.x.y.71) - router 64.x.y.65 (which is default GW on eth0) -internet - 161.a.b.c (FW-1) So a windows client with checkpoint tries to connect to a vpn-1 server on the internet. VPN
Hi list, I am trying to create a VPN between two different locations. On the first location we have a cisco pix 525 Natting the internal 192.168.100.x network, while on the second location we have a Centos3 box Natting via iptables the internal 192.168.10.x netowrk. My goal is to connect this 2 over the internet via IPsec. I created the IPsec Net2Net via the network configuration graphic

Problem with FreeSwan and Shorewall on a LEAF(Oxygen) based router.
Hello, I seem to have the Freeswan IPSEC tunnel working between my two sites, but I am still having a problem that looks to be because of something I have configured wrong in my shorewall setup.. I have a LEAF Oxygen < 1.9 heavily modifed firewall setup.. Using FreeSwan 1.91, and Kernel 2.4.8. Modified to use IPTables and standard Debian network/interfaces. I am also using Shorewall

udp broadcast over ipsec
Hello all, I am configuring a vpn between freeswan and windows 2000. I am following the steps at http://www.jacco2.dds.nl/networking/win2000xp-freeswan.html, to get the VPN up and running. using this I have a ppp tunnel between windows and linux, which is inside a l2tp tunnel which is again encrypted by IPSec. (the url gives the configuration in detail and I have followed it exactly) Now the

First, I assume that you will be running NAT at both locations, if that is not the case, then the configuration will change. When you said VPN, are you using PPTP or IPSEC? Microsoft supports PPTP. In order to connect a PC over VPN to the office, which has a PPTP VPN Server, you will need to runs VPN software. After it is run, the PC obtains a new IP address from your office, If you are using

racoon and ipsec issues
I am attempting to create an ipsec tunnel between two CentOS 5.1 systems, network-to-network with two different 192.168.xxx.0/24 LAN segments. I have gone through the documentation on the centos web site, and have the machines to the point where the /var/log/messages show ``IPsec-SA established'' on both machines after runnig ``ifup ipsec0'' (same ipsec0 on each machine). Advanced Routing and FreeSwan
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I''m trying to setup a central IPSEC-Gateway with several ipsec tunnels. Some are to be routed over one leased line, some over the other leased line. Both leased lines have their own public ip adress. The setup looks kinda like this: eth1(ipsec0)--ISP0--Internet--eth1-Linux1-eth0--Subnet1 /

I want to connect to a l2tp server from centos.
OK So i took the time and finally built a RPM for the softether vpn server and client. I have not tested them for usage but I found out that only the server side can work with multiple protocols while the client side works only with one protocol. The actual protocol is called "ethernet overl HTTPS". More info on the product: http://www.softether.org/ The gui is only for windows as

Betr.: VPN
IF you are not stuck to IPSec, you might want to take a look at OpenVPN (www.openvpn.org). I found OpenVPN easier to install than FreeSWAN (an IPSEC VPN) and have setup an OpenVPN solution between my German office and our mainoffice in a matter of hours. I want to connect to a l2tp server from centos.
Hey Gordon, I do not have any security issue in this network. I need to connect to a remote network on a secure network. The options are pptp or l2tp(no ipsec encryption) so I do want to use l2tp like in (lac\lns) and I am looking for a client for CentOS. Note that it works in ubuntu so it is possible to achieve the same with CentOS but I do not know what is behind the gui that initiates the

I want to connect to a l2tp server from centos.
Hey John, I do not require encryption at all, it's a secure and internal channel but it requires me to connect via either pptp or l2tp. This is the reason I am asking. I had the chance of finding the SoftEther Project which gives a lot in terms of VPN Client and Server. At: http://www.softether-download.com/en.aspx But yet to try it. Also they have all sorts of beta versions but not

shorewall, freeswan and kernel crypto-api
Hello, I''ve finally managed to setup a firewall with freeswan 2.04 using the kernel crypto api (backported from kernel 2.6). (Almost) everything seems to work fine if I disable shorewall, but packets are filtered whe shorewall is active. I''ve already read a past thread on the subject and I followed all the hints and it actually partially works: my lan I can access the remote

Hi, after migrating to shorewall firewall from my own iptables rule set (to utilise freeswan vpn tunnels) I have successfully configured a 3 interface firewall with net2net vpn tunnels, with the help of the shorewall documentation. However I cannot seem to configure my final step which is to masq another subnet attached to my LAN (LANB, via Cisco 1603 router) to get internet access via the

ipsec problem
Shorewall version 2.0.3C Does anyone know where i might be able to get a RPM version of IPSEC for Linux Kernel -smp 2.4.20-31.9 ? I currently have IPSEC version 2.06 running on a Redhat Linux 9.0 box with kernel 2.4.20-6smp just fine. But whenever i attempt to upgrade the Kernel to the latest one mentioned above, IPSEC fails to startup properly and displays multiple error messages. I Checked

Building custom _updown script for freeswan to make it talk with shorewall

How can I make shorewall work properly with different road warriors with different dynamic ip-addresses and

Connecting CentOS to IPSEC VPN (Checkpoint FW1)
Hi, Does anyone have experience using IPSEC on CentOS in order to connect to vendor IPSEC-based VPN products (specifically Checkpoint FW1) ? Is the included IPSEC implementation sufficient, or do people have to rely on OpenSWAN or FreeSWAN ? I'd be testing tomorrow and I'm interested with experiences others have had and things to look out for. Thanks in advance, -- dag wieers, dag
