smbd and login scripts
Hello
I've two strange problems:
- smbd
I've attached you my smb.conf, inetd.conf and my log file. Sometimes smbd and
nmbd run and somtimes only nmbd run (I check it with ps -ax). But I have
access over my shares (I test it with my Win95 machine). Also in my log
file there're some error messages (I don't now from where the came).
- login scripts
My scripts won't run but if

without passwd
Hi, I have two Fedora box and rsync running on both systems. One system ip
is 192.168.1.110 and the other is 192.168.1.71. I run manually for the
following commands in both systems. my problem is whenever run it asking
the user passwd and i cannot run the same automatically using crontab. My
question is how to avoid the passwd option...
rsync -aPrv rsync://192.168.1.110/detailing/

dsnapshot
Hello there,
recently, I've written a helper script that I use with my rsync-based
backups. Here's the abstract:
| The dsnapshot script provides a high-level interface to the Linux
| Logical Volume Manager. It uses its block-level snapshot support to
| create directory snapshots. In contrast to block-level snapshots,
| directory snapshots resemble the file system layer. Thus, you can

scheduled pings
Hello,
I have just setup some ipfw rules to checkout some traffic to one of my
boxes. I have three servers, only one of which has weird traffic. It
is getting ping'd on a five minute interval from approx 3 to 8 different
ip addresses within the same second. For example:
May 3 20:20:03 gaspra kernel: ipfw: 65002 Deny ICMP:8.0 202.160.241.130

ipfw table add problem
Hi,
I'm using kernel FreeBSD 10.0-BETA3 #2 r257635 kernel.
I am trying to add port number to ipfw tables. But there is something
strange :
Problem is easily repeatable.
#ipfw table 1 flush
#ipfw table 1 add 4899
#ipfw table 1 list
::/0 0
#ipfw table 1 flush
#ipfw table 1 add 10.2.3.01 ( not 10.0.0.1, the last 1 has 0 as
prefix )
#ipfw table 1 list
::/0 0
#ipfw table 1 delete ::/0

Everything works nice ( pam auth, ldap userdb, and so on ) BUT i need to

1) user dovecot-ldap.conf with user_attrs, as it's shown on dovecot wiki ;
2) use the commandes "plugin {.........." in dovecot.conf
But it didn't work. Strangely, when i try to use the

how to get IPFW rules for SMTP server behind NAT server "right"?
hi all,
i've been struggling with setting appropriate rules for an SMTP-server
behind by NAT'd firewall.
it's not that there is too little info on the web -- or here, for that
matter -- there's scads of it for seemingly endless configs/req'ts --
none that seem to be exactly my own.
bottom line: i'm a bit confused, and looking for some experienced
advice.

Equal bandwidth configuration among host with dummynet
Hi all,
First of all, I have spent a lot of time reading up on
it.
Anyway, I live in a shared accomodation with 2
roommates and a landlord and we share a cable internet
connection. It is 2Mbit/400Kbit connection. Sometimes
when one of us is downloading a song through Kazaa or
a new Linux or FreeBSD iso, the bandwidth gets hogged
and other users can't get through.
I was trying to configure
