pxelinux localboot 0 fails?
I have a pxelinux I'm working with and I want the default option
to be to boot off the local mbr. According to the docs, if I
specify localboot 0, it should return to the BIOS and continue to
the next device. When I do this, though, the pxe agent exists
(PXE-M0F), but the BIOS never continues on.
Is this a BIOS issue? If so, has anyone else figured out a way to
work around it?

reading journal statistics
Is there a way to get usage statistics on the journal device? We
are testing battery-backed NVRAM cards with extremely busy 1.7TB
filesystems (mode data=journal) and we need to figure out what size
NVRAM card we need. I assume the journal size depends on how much
writing you are doing and we can do simple theoretical calculations
(writing 2.5MB/s, 60 seconds of journal would be max 150MB), but

PROBLEM: log abort over RAID5
Several people already reported this at linux-kernel and
elsewhere with no answers, I thought perhaps this would be a more
adequate forum...
[1.] One line summary of the problem:
After I/O, journal is aborted and filesystems made read-only.
[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
One can't anymore write to the affected file systems. Upon
investigation, ext3fs journal was aborted

EIO vs. ENOENT on disk failure
I've got a filesystem-based JBOD setup. During testing, I failed
out one of the drives and tried to access the filesystem on it.
Here are the results I got:
stat /disk succeeds
open /disk for reading succeeds
readdir (getdents) for /disk fails EIO
open /disk/noexist for reading fails ENOENT
open /disk/noexist for writing

Site-to-site VPN with dynamic IPs

Is it possible to establish site-to-site VPN using dynamic IP addresss
assigned by ISP ?
If yes, I would like to request a sample ipsec.conf for such scenario...
Thanks and warmest regards

hierarchy_sep
Hi Timo,
I would like to add another naming scheme to dovecot to recognize
maildir folders:
As of today:
~/Maildir/.foo
~/Maildir/.foo.bar
I would like to add:
~/Maildir/foo
~/Maildir/foo/bar
I had a quick look at the code (very clean, I am impressed!) and I saw
struct mail_storage, with field hierarchy_sep.
I think I cannot just set hierarchy_sep to '/', because /foo would start from

How to analyse simple study: Placebo-controlled (2 groups) repeated measurements (ANOVA, ANCOA???)
Hallo!
I have two groups (placebo/verum), every subject is measured at 5 times, the first time t0 is the baseline measurement, t1 to t4 are the measurements after applying the medication (placebo or verum). The question is, if there is a significant difference in the two groups and how large the differnce is (95% confidence intervals).
Let me give sample data

Hello,
I have used Wilcox test to find the p-value for hgua95 spiken data. It did
not give the required result, and instead gave me warnings like the values
are duplicated. Kindly suggest me how to overcome this problem as I am new

Unstable file systems since upgrading to RedHat 7.2 Ext3
Hi,
We have upgraded our server with RedHat 7.2 and changed the filesystem
for the new Ext3 format. Since then we are having troubles with NFS and
Samba file systems.
Our server export directories to Windows clients through Samba and to
other Linux (RedHat 7.2) through NFS. It is also connected through NFS
to a RedHat 7.0 server.
Since we changed for Ext3 filesystems, we experience to main

VT-d interrup remapping errata workaround
All,
just having spotted the backport of Linux commit 03bbcb2e I notice
a certain discrepancy with the Xen commit having the same purpose
as well as with the actual specification updates:
The Linux solution keys off of device IDs 3403 and 3406, as listed in
the specification update, but this way fails to cover the X58 chipset,
which has - under different numbers (62 and 69) - the same errata

unmountable ext3 root recovery
After a (hardware) crash yesterday, I was unable to boot up due to
unrecoverable ide errors (according to the printk()s) when accessing
the root filesystem's journal for recovery.
Unable to recover, I tried deleting the has_journal option, but that was
disallowed given that the needs_recovery flag was set. I saw no way
to unset that flag.
Unable to access the backups (they were on a fw

Is ext3 the right choice?
Dear All,
Our mobile device, which runs linux 2.4, uses ext3 as its filesystem.
To make ext3 work, we have Samsung's xrs module, a middle layer which
resembles MTD, to simulate disk devices over Samsung's onenand flash.
Recently some of our phones are suffering a filesystem crash with only
30% space used on that partition. So I began to doubt whether it is
right to employ an disk

I.O error: zpool metadata corrupted after powercut
Last 2 weeks we had 2 zpools corrupted.
Pool was visible via zpool import, but could not be imported anymore. During import attempt we got I/O error,
After a first powercut we lost our jumpstart/nfsroot zpool (another pool was still OK). Luckaly jumpstart data was backed up and easely restored, nfsroot Filesystems where not but those where just test machines. We thought the metadata corruption

How well ext3 will tolerate errors?
Hi!
I would like to know how well ext3/(ext2) will tolerate underlaying
errors (I am planning to use loop-AES backed ext3 fs).
So if there is 1024 bytes corruption of data what will be the worst case:
- If this data belongs to some file, this part of data(file) has been
lost?
- If this data belongs to superblock, I have to repair ext3 and use
another superblock?
- If this data belongs to

Hello all.
I'm using RedHat 7.2 now and haven't have any problems until today. I
