Outlook XP/2002 with Samba
Please help,
We've searched high and low for a solution, but nothing. We're upgrading
our Office 2000 to Office XP on Metaframe 1.8/NT TSE. We use a Samba 2.0.7
and 2.2.2 on Solaris 2.6 and 2.8 respectively. Both are disallowing the
user to write to their outlook.pst file. What's more, we can compact the
PST file, but ONLY OUTSIDE of outlook (example, right clicking on properties

Cannot start SWAT on Solaris 8 server - libiconv.so.2: open
No one on the planet has seemed to answer this question. After an hour
or so of trying to fix this problem myself, I now have the answer, at
least a temp fix for it.
I just linked /usr/local/lib/libiconf.so.2 /lib/libiconf.so.2 in Solaris
9. Seems to get Swat working again.

installing samba
Hi,
I just downloaded the latest version of Samba in the form of samba-latest.tar.gz
Managed to unzip it with gunzip but cannot figure out how to install it. Tried rpm but didn't work.
I have an earlier version of Samba (2.0.6) on my SuSE 6.4 machine already.
Can I just install the new version or do I need to do some sort of uninstall of the previous version first.
advTHANKSance,
Mariann

Samba 2.0.3 and NT Terminal Server SP4/MetaFrame 1.8
I'm running NT 4.0 Terminal Server (Service Pack 4) with Citrix MetaFrame
1.8 on a PC, and Samba 2.0.3 on an HP-UX box. We've been having
occasional problems with files not saving correctly, and also with files
not unzipping or copying correctly.
I suspect it's some sort of incompatibility between Samba and Terminal
Server/Metaframe and/or SP4. For

Windows 2000 Terminal Server Environment
I am running Citrix Metaframe XP on Windows 2000 server and would like to
have the ability to access files on my AIX Unix server. Are there any
issues with Samba in a Windows Terminal Server environment?
Thanks,

Samba 1 vs. 2, locking and Windows Terminal Server Edition
On Samba 1.9.18p10 and previous versions, each of the multiple users on
the same Windows Terminal Server Edition machine would get their own
smbd process. With Samba 2.0.x (I'm currently testing 2.0.4b), this has
changed so that every user on a WTSE machine uses the same smbd
process. File ownerships are assigned correctly, but file locking does
not work. If one user on a WTSE machine has a

Windows 2003 Terminal Server - domain users not being able to log on
I have set up Samba 2.0.4 on Fedora Core 1 as the PDC for the domain,
and we have a Win2003 server as a member server w/ Citrix MetaFrame
Presentation Server 3.0 installed. Domain users can log in locally just
fine, but only local users can log in through Citrix or RDP. When a
domain user tries to log on remotely, Win2003 rolls the progress bar for
a few seconds, and then responds:

Samba and Win2k Terminal Services
Hello,
I have a Samba PDC running (using LDAP in the back-end). I'm able to
join systems to the domain, and log in to each machine, at the console,
as domain users. However, when I try to log into our Win2k Terminal
Server (w/ Citrix Metaframe), the log in session crashes with
winlogon.exe trying to reference memory. If I log into the machine via
terminal server, as a local

Samba - NT Terminal Server error
Hi all,
I have a Dell PowerEdge 6300 running Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal
Server Edition (SP5) + Citrix MetaFrame 1.8. We are running Samba 2.0.4
on a Sun Enterprise 4500 with Solaris 7. The smb.conf specifies
server-based authentication, and specifies the Terminal Server as the
password server. The users are not allowed to directly log on to the Sun
box, so on that server

win xp home media edition / Samba 3.023c
I have an issue where one client machine (out of 10, the only one
running 'xp home media') is being forced off periodically and closing
XP's file browser. It seems to be random. My Samba configuration is a
simple one -- just sharing files, it is not handling authentication.
All other clients work as expected: Log in, for the first time, access
as many times as desired after the

Windows 2000 Terminal Server and SAMBA
Hi,
We a re planning to migrate from the Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server to the
Windows 2000 version sometime within the next few weeks. From the
newsgroups and have gathered that the MULIPLEUSERSONCONNECTION registry
option that allowed each connection from the Terminal Server to start a
separate smb process has been disabled in the 2000 version. Is there any
work arounds that can be done in

IMAP and Outlook XP Contacts
I was wondering, does Dovecot's IMAP server hand Outlook XP's contact lists?
I tried to enter a contact on my IMAP server and received an error from
Outlook stating that the Contacts formatting was too complex and thus
couldn't be saved.
I went ahead and swung my box over to MailDir and scrapped Sendmail for
Postfix [for maildir support], I was wondering, would this issue continue?

samba and Citrix Metaframe
Hi,
Is it possible to use samba with Citrix Metaframe to allow Unix users
running Windows applications and having access to their unix
directories?
I'd like to know if there is no problem of authentication and
permissions.
Thanks in advance
Benoit.

Samba and Citrix Metaframe.
Hi Folks,
I was wondering if anybody else on this list is using, or trying to use,
Samba (esp. on an IBM mainframe) as a print server in a Citrix Metaframe
environment, or are we the first? We're getting one or two odd problems...
Metaframe is creating the printers on our Samba server as "Client" printers,
rather that connecting to them direct. We can connect and print fine from

SV: Samba-Citrix compatability
I have searched for some FAQ/HOWTO regarding Citrix/Metaframe to no
avail. (Like this one
http://samba.org/~jht/HOWTO/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.pdf )
What I would like to see in such a FAQ/HOWTO:
- Compilation issues regarding Citrix/metaframe
- - ie the need to increase the MAX_CONNECTION setting before
compilation
- - ie how to compile samba to a 64 bit application to get more

RE: security=domain and Citrix MetaFrame on W2K was Windows 2000T erminal Server and Samba
Troy,
This does work in the security=domain situations (This is what I am
currently using in my smb.conf).
You do not need to do anything special for joining the doman when using the
aliases.

do anything special with regard
to joining the domain.
