HP supporting samba
In the web it states HP does support samba and there is
a link. Following this link I read nothing about samba,
it may be wrong.
Can someone point me to the right link please ?
This is very very important for me.
Thank you.

max file size
Hello,
does anybody know what's the maximum file size (terabytes?) when using rsync
with options --checksum and / or --inplace?
What file sizes have been tested in reality? Are there any experiences using
rsync (with --checksum and / or --inplace) for big files with several / dozens
or terabytes?
Thanks a lot, Heinz-Josef Claes

Samba and MC/Service Guard
Samba friends,
I work in Wal-Mart's IT department, specifically with Unix Servers of
various flavors, but HP-UX is predominant in our Home Office environment.
I recently built an two node HA cluster on HP 11.11 boxes. I want to be
able to have Samba use the virtual name of my cluster. Currently Samba is
configured to use the hardcoded box name, however if the box happens to go
down, we

[Fwd: Re: School Server Setup]
Hi Harry,
Has much has I like Centos and RH for big sophisticated setup, it would
not be my first choice for your project.
For 25 systems and if you want this done without spending to much time,
Clarkconnect would by my first choice for server side OS (#2 would be SME).
For me CentOS x64 is #1 choice for enterprise (+500 users with Terabytes
of storage ) sever solution.

Converting collection to 1.1.3
So, if I have a 50,000 flac files with perfect metadata encoded with
<=1.1.2, I should...
find . -type f -name "*.flac" -exec flac -8 {} \; -print
And come back to my computer in about 24-48 hours?
I've tested it on a small dir tree and it seemed to be fine. I just wanted
to make sure though, before having to re-tag a couple terabytes of data.
This is actually a serious

login to samba3 PDC and problem with novell netware client
Hi,
I have actual installation Debian Sarge (testing) with Samba 3.0.2a.
There is Windows XP SP1 on workstations.
I use Novell client 4.83 SP2 or 4.9 SP1 for Novell Netware connections.
I try to run Samba as PDC. Everything is fine without Novell client.
After Novell Client installation, I could not logon to samba domain.
Client gives me message "Domain controller could not be found for

Severe problem with Samba
Dear All,
we are experiencing severe problems with Samba 2.2.0 (with quota support) running on a
dual processor (400MHz) Sun E450 running Solaris 2.7. This is used as a central file server for
student diskspace, accessed by approx 1200 PCs running NT 4. Up until recently we
experienced some, what we assume to be, loading issues with connections during the middle of
the day being slow.

Samba Team Asks Novell to Reconsider
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

The Samba Team disapproves strongly of the actions taken
by Novell on November 2nd.
One of the fundamental differences between the proprietary
software world and the free software world is that the
proprietary software world divides users by forcing them
to agree to coercive licensing agreements which restrict
their rights to share with each other,

SAMBA and NFS
Can samba connect to an NFS share and then re-export that share so my
windows XP users can connect to it? Basically I have a NFS share that all
of my windows XP users need read-only access to. The goal of this project
is to replace an old MS Gateway Services for Novell server (using IPX) with
something that can do the same thing but over IP. I am pretty sure Novell
and AD can share files

2TB limit, weird mounting issues on reboot
Greetings,
I'm seeing some weird issues surrounding the 2 terabyte limit on my 3ware
(9590SE, PCI Express model) raid controller. Currently, the raid array is 6
x 500GB disks for a total of around 2.3 terabytes formatted. Looking at the
documentation on the 3ware site, the raid card can handle a single partition
over 2TB, but it still looks like fdisk fails to create a primary partition

Large server, Xen limitations
Hi,
we''re contemplating getting a large new server, where we will run a number
of
virtual servers. Are there any things we need to keep in mind in that
case? Are
there limitations on what a Xen system can manage?
We''re talking about a 4 x Quad core CPU server with 64 GBs of RAM and a
couple of terabytes of RAIDed SATA storage.

OpenSSH port to NetWare 6
I'm a software developer at Novell. I have been tasked with porting OpenSSH to the NetWare 6.0 OS. I would like to include my NetWare specific changes,#ifdef'd of course, in the portable releases at some point. Whom should I contact with regard to this? And are there any guidlines I can look at online to minimize any disturbance this may cause to other platforms?
Any assistance that
