Hello, I've been trying to get any office2000 app to work, but I keep getting the error message "Office 2000 must be installed to run". Is there any way I can make Word2000 wined believe that Office 2000 is installed? I have two partitions, and Office 2000 is on the Windows partition and working fine. What is missing is probably the Software/Microsoft Office keys from a normal

Hi I'm a new rsync user. I have two systems, A and B both with rsync installed. I've setup rsync in daemon mode on system B and want to rsync a directory /projects/sw/lib/ from system A to system B. My rsyncd.conf file on system B looks like this: [swlibrary] path = /projects/sw comment = Master Libraries If I execute on system A: rsync systemB:: I can see the

samba 207 on solaris - idiot newbie questions
Hello all. I've decided to try using samba on our Solaris systems to give users who are stuck with PCs on their desks access to our gis data. I obtained a compiled binary package of version 2.0.7 from one of the samba.org sites, and have installed SAMBAroot, SAMBAusr, SAMBAman, and SAMBAdoc. All apparently worked just fine. I've made a couple of changes to the smb.conf file, changing

WinXP clients connect slowly to Samba
Folks, Haven't been able to find any information on either issue. 1) We have Windows clients (primarily NT4sp6a and WinXP sp1) connecting to Samba servers, and it works fine but the connections are slow. They take 5-10 seconds whereas connections to native Windows servers are nearly instant. 2) The WinXP machines seem to disconnect the SMB session to the Samba servers ASAP rather than

Samba 3.0 Alpha
Does net rpc join work in SAMBA (using HEAD from CVS compiled this morning) Configured with ACL, with PAM, and with WINBIND. It seems that I cannot rejoin my domain (PDC is NT4sp6a) after I turfed machine.sid and secrets.tdb. I tried using smbpasswd first and was informed to use net join rpc instead. Logs available if needed. Thanx Hans

network extremely slow
samba2.07,nt4sp6a I run a samba-server with 15nt-clients on a 100MBit-Switch. Now I faced extremely poor performance and really have no idea why. I even dont know if it can be a samba-problem. When copying myriads of small file from a client to the server or vice versa I get bad performance: 1000 files a 16kb: ~80seconds = 200kb/second But this is highspeed compared to copying from nt to nt:

2.2.8a-1, Raidzone, filesize > ~17.6GB
I am working with a Raidzone tech to solve a problem with our Raidzone NAS. The tech told me he has not yet posted to any Samba list about this, and gave me permission to do so. Using XCOPY from either NT4SP6a or W2KSP3, over varying network paths, a file of 18,490,235K-1 bytes or smaller will copy to the NAS successfully in about 45 minutes, but a file of 18,490,256K-1 bytes or larger will

3000'ish Open Files - causes network connection to be reset from single machine
Samba_Version: 2.2.6 Server_OS: Mandrake 8.2 Client_OS: NT 4 workstation There seems to be a issue on a Samba server when NT telnet sessions have roughly 1500-1600 files open on a samba server. The client has a Clipper database application that opens roughly 150 file handles per session. When logged into the NT4sp6a workstation machine locally, everything is fine. I am able to open the

still problems to join domain with W2Ksp2
Hi, what I've done: Installed Redhat 7.2 and Samba 2.2.2 from rawhide. Configured samba as a PDC and WINS-Server. Added Useraccounts and Mashineaccounts for my NT4SP6a-Users and -Systems. The NT4 Systems can join the domain, the Users can access the shares. Installed W2K with sp2 on an testsystem. I can access the shares with different users. I added the mashine account for the testsystem
