Local mount of Win shares.
Hi, I have Samba server working just great. Is there a way I can work the other way around, I mean - can I mount Win shares in the Linux? Something like, making /shares/whatever see the files on //WinMachine/sharename? This could be good for backing up the files from the Windoz with the Linux box. SWAT and SuSE 8
Hi I am an absolute beginner and have just loaded SuSE v8 onto a new computer I have made sure that I chose Samba and samba-client amongst the software when I loaded up. Now, wanting to access swat, type http://localhost:901/ into my browser and get an error message. It seems that localhost:901 can't be found. Can anyone suggest what I may be doing wrong could be? Saving & Upgrading Samba domain data.
Hi, I'm running Samba 2.2.2 on RH 7.1 as PDC. Anybody knows how to save the data of the samba so that if the hardware fails and I would have to install Linux and Samba on a new machine, the Samba would continue working as is. I mean, if I save the /etc/samba directory does the SID stays and all the Win2K & WinXP would see the "same" PDC (without the need to dis-join and re-join

syncing unix passwords
I give up. I had this working and now it isn't and I don't know why. I was able to sync unix password using smbpasswd but now it won't work. When I run smbpasswd it changes the samba password but acts like it doesn't even see the parameters in the smb.conf to change the unix password. Here is a sample changing session: as400:# ./smbpasswd xxxxxx New SMB password: Retype new

Upgrading for Samba 2.2.2 to 2.2.4.
Hi, I'm running RH 7.1 with Samba 2.2.2 as PDC for network including Windows based machines and it's working just fine! But, I want to upgrade the system to RH 7.2 and to Samba 2.2.4, plus I'm going to install the whole Linux machine from scratch. I've tried to do that and most of it worked o.k., but I've missed something. I have backup the following files and restore on the

Bug#655303: xcp-xapi: document network configuration in README.Debian
Package: xcp-xapi Version: 1.3-15 Severity: normal By default, xapi listens on the loopback interface. To make it available over the network, its inventory needs to be updated with the bridged interface details. For example, if xenbr0 is the bridged interface, it needs to be set it: lnx200-39:~# cat /etc/xcp/inventory BUILD_NUMBER='0' CURRENT_INTERFACES='xenbr0'

sharing /etc/passwd
How 'bout PAM? /usr/ports/security/pam_ldap. If you have machines that can't do PAM, perhaps NIS is the way to go (assuming, of course, you're behind a firewall). You can store login information in LDAP like you want, then use a home-grown script to extract the information to a NIS map. Or, if you have a Solaris 8 machine lying around, you can cut out the middle step and use

not healing one file
On a side note, try recently released health report tool, and see if it does diagnose any issues in setup. Currently you may have to run it in all the three machines.
