install printer drivers on the server
Hello, I have been trying off and on over the last couple months to get printer drivers installed on the server side of samba. And have emailed the list with copious notes, got nowhere, and gave up. adding machines to a pre 3 pdc
I just upgraded to the latest and greatest samba in Debian sid (2.999+3.0cvs20020723-1), and And am now unable to have machine domain logins. Part of the problem was my fault a poorly done conversion to passdb.tdb where I lost the original machine accounts. I deleted all the original unix machine accounts. I mapped Domain Admins, Power users, and users with smbgroupedit this seemed to work

unable to get pushed drivers to work with hp plotters
Hello all! I am running a samba network remotely and am unable to get the driver version needed for cad applications to work It's for a hp750c. I can push the driver fine. And previous versions (the one that came with 2000 and 2.65) worked; but were unsatisfactory for CAD. The version that my cad users want is version 4.64 but for the life of me I can't get that version to work. The

Calculate Az (A sub z) with R?
I am looking for (or interested in writing) a function that calculates Az, an alternative measure of discriminability from SDT (alternative to d', Az). I have written my own functions for d', A', B"d, and am aware of the 'sdtalt' package, but I have yet to find a way to calculate Az, since it require the phi operator. For a relevant paper/discussion (and formula), please

FW: backupexec
If you can see the server, but not shares, you most likely have not published any directories. What version of the BE agent are you using? I've noticed 4.6 works well (the install actually works well and will walk you through the setup to publish the directories to be backed up). It's often easier to just publish root (but exclude /proc /tmp). Also, I've found out that in the hosts

Extracting Plot Arguments
Hi All, I'm building an autograding framework for my biostatistics class this semester, and I am exploring different ways to automatically grade figures. In other classes, I teach ggplot2 and I extract information directly from the ggplot2 object. However, in this class we are using base R and I need to extract information from base-r graphics. I've tried several different approaches,

Capturing Function Arguments
I'm wrapping a function in R and I want to record all the arguments passed to it, including default values and missing values. I want to be able to snoop on function calls in sourced scripts as part of a unit testing framework. I can capture the values fine, but I'm having trouble evaluating them as if `force()` had been applied to each of them. Here is a minimal example: f0 <-

overlaying
Dear List, I am working with a small (3 columns and 9 rows) data table, which contains 9 observations, their mean values and standard deviations (I extracted these data from a huge set and I cannot use the original data). I plotted means (y-axis) and the observations (x-axis) using the " plot() " command. However, I am not sure how to plot the standard deviation data on top of this. This

registering samba in wins
for some strange reason, our wins servers occasionally drop samba servers out of there name space. to deal with this, I cron'ed a restart of samba at midnight everynight. This was a quick solution, but a lousy one. I would rather have some way to have samba regularly send name registration requests to wins. Is there a way to do this? barring that, is there some interface I can query on samba

Caching Caller Name
Hey Guys, Kind of an off the ball question, but I have a random idea. My voip provider supports caller id lookups, but charges a bit for each lookup. I'm thinking about writing a basic PHP script (through AGI) to cache these lookups for say 90 days. Is there an obvious problem with this? ESS does not recognize installed libraries
Hi, all. Something strange happened to my ESS. I use Mac OS X. When R is used in stand alone mode, it recognizes external libraries like "affy", "e1071" etc. However, when R is invoked through ESS in Emacs, it produces errors like: Error in library(affy) : There is no package called 'affy' Interestingly, I remember I successfully used these libraries through ESS in
