Sort 1-column dataframe with rownames
Hi,
I have a 1-column dataframe with rownames and I want to sort it
based on the single column. The typical procedure that is recommended
in diverse posts is to use order in the index. But that "destroys" my
dataframe structure. Probabaly it is a very simple solution. Here is a
short reproducable example:
x <- c(1,3,51,2,34,44,12,33,2,8)
df <- data.frame(x)
rownames(df) <-

"net rpc vampire" and filling userPassword
Hello,
recently we succeeded in doing a test migration from NT4 to a samba
BDC with LDAP. The LDAP directory is now filled with machine, group
and user account information.
My question:
as I have set the smb.conf parameter "ldap passwd sync = Yes", I
would have expected that "net rpc vampire" would also set the UNIX
password of the LDAP user account entries, i.e. the

sshd executes ~/.ssh/sshrc without using user's shell
I am considering allowing (relitivly) untrusted local users onto my
fileserver, so they can use SFTP to access their home directories.
I have a custom shell, (a taint-mode enabled perl script) that allows
users to change their password, which I have modifed to only allow a
'-c' command for the sftp-server.
I have also disabled TCP port forwarding. However, some reading of the

Restricted SFTP
As I have mentioned earlier on this list, I want to allow (relitivly)
untrusted local users to SFTP to my server, as a secure method of remote
file access.
What I would like to do is to keep users within their home directory. I
don't mind that it follows symlinks (if fact its probably a
requirement), but some basic restriction on what users can see/access
would be handy.
The check I

Logon Hours with Samba PDC
I have been searching for information about implementing Logon Hours with a
Samba 2.2.5 PDC (or for that matter any version of SAMBA) but haven't yet
noticed any postings or correspondence. I have set up a a Samba PDC and
have mapped shares, authenticated users, blah blah blah, .... everything
seems to work fine. I checked with 'rpcclient' to see what sort of

Enhancement of wbinfo in samba2.2.6pre2
Hi,
Most of the samba-commands takes a option for smb.conf file
exept for wbinfo.
It should be nice to have that functionallity in wbinfo also.

Hi Hal,
I think that it's perfectly valid to generate inline assembler and it
looks 1000 times cleaner than if I tried to do this same work with
selection DAG.

Issues with domain auth
Ver smb 2.2.7a
Managers, I am having trouble configuring samba as a domain member
authenticating to a win2k domain controller. All other aspects seem to
be functioning but samba is generating a log event when attempting to
connect to the password server as follows.
Machine NDEVDC1 rejected the tconX on the IPC$ share. Error as follows:
NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Any help is appreciated.

I just installed wondershapper 1.1a on my ipcop firewall box. I have
roadrunner cable with a ftp server setup. My download speed is 2mbit (I get
225 KBytes) and my upload is 384kbit (I send at 43 KBytes).
What should the settings in wshaper?
I can ping yahoo.com at 90msec with little traffic.....and at around 220msec

PAM session trouble
I am using PAM and pam_smbpass.so with Samba 2.999 (Debian sid package).
If, in /etc/pam.d/samba, I set
session required pam_smbpass.so

Samba 2.2.0 PDC Problem
I've poured through the FAQ and HowTo for setting up my Linux 7.0 system to act as a PDC for my Windows 2000 SP1 clients; however, I continue to get the "Cannot join domain, the credentials supplied conflict with an existing set.." error. Yep, I followed the FAQ for this error, followed it and I still get this error.
I'm logging onto the Win2K system as administrator and when I

Looking for NTLM config example
Now that I am running Thunderbird on Linux and away from Windows/Outlook, I'd like to take
another run at setting up NTLM authentication from Thunderbird to my Samba4 AC/DC.
With the help of the samba maillist folks I was able to set up NTLM authentication for domain
user login. I should be able to do the same for email!
But, I need help. I went to

Weird quirk with ingress policing
Hi,
I notice that if two or more existing connections match an ingress
policing filter, the input bandwidth does not get evenly divided up
between the n connections.
Kinda like litters of baby animals, where the stronger babies get more
access to the mothers teats and grow up bigger and faster than their
siblings.
The only workaround that''s working for me is to set explicit ingress
