2.2.6 leaking session ids?
got this in my log level 1 when people started reporting profiles randomly
not loading and 98 machines reported strange errors, shares aren't
mapping, people can't print....it's a nightmare over here....
this seems to affect all versions of windows regardless of SP's.

Fileshares failing
Hi,
I used to have a set of samba shares working fine on a Centos 4 machine,
accessed by XP clients and authenticated against a 2003 SBS server. Then
I did a yum upgrade and a week later noticed that the seldom-used SMB
shares have stopped working. No other changes to the Centos server, and
no domain changes. The XP clients now just keep prompting for
authentication.

PAM session trouble
I am using PAM and pam_smbpass.so with Samba 2.999 (Debian sid package).
If, in /etc/pam.d/samba, I set

then login fails, and the log says:

I cannot mount my Samba shares. I could, then I rebooted my device, and
now I no longer can. The .conf file has not been changed in over a year.

Debugging samba/winbind SMB share
Hi,
I had an active-directory authentication based samba system up and running, working well. However, I tried to access an SMB share on the server a few days back and just get a windows login user/password prompt.
I'm trying to debug why theres a "system error".
PAM is configured for pam_winbind.so in /etc/pam.d/system-auth, and I can ssh into the system using a domain

'passwd chat' for Debian Woody password sync
what is the 'passwd chat' line for Samba 2.2.3a-12.3 on Debian Woody that enables
password synchronisation with Windows 2000 clients in a domain?
I currently have this in smb.conf but it doesn't work:
unix password sync = yes
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *Enter\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n *Retype\snew\sUNIX\spassword:*

smbd/service.c:make_connection_snum - Access denied
Hi,
Two days ago, I tried to turned my samba server, which worked perfectly
into a PDC but despite of all my efforts, skimming thru the docs,
mailing lists, hanging on #samba, I've never been able to logon to the
new domain from the WinXP clients.
Authentication is OK, but then access to the share is denied. Here's
part of the log:

Samba - Winbind problem : session setup failed : System error
Hello,
I'm using Samba 2.2.7a on RedHat 9.0. I'm trying to set-up universal logons
between a Samba Server and a W2K SP3 DC, which has restrictanonymous=1.
I followed the procedure as described at
http://ftp.easynet.be/samba/docs/man/winbind.html
- I managed to join the Samba server (MYSAMBASRV) to the domain (MYDOMAIN)
- I used wbinfo with the -A switch to store the credentials of a

Upgrade 3.0.10 to 3.0.24 on RHEL4 - NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi all,
I'm having a problem with an upgrade of Samba running on a Redhat4 Update 4 system. The default installation provides only 3.0.10 which doesn't include the privilege model or a number of fixes including some in 3.0.21a and 3.0.23 which it looks like we'll need.
The system runs in PDC mode with user accounts in an ldap database. On a test system which I'm using to

Username/Password not passed to Samba
Hi all,
Using Samba 3.0.0beta3 on FreeBSD 4.9 and a WinXP SP1 client. I was able to
join the domain with the WinXP machine, but I cannot log-on. The Windows
error message is about the domain server not found, no machine account, etc.
I set the log level to 3 and received the following output when I tried to
log-on:

can join a domain, but users are not able to log in
Hi,
I have a samba server which should act as a domain controller. I did not
set up the server by myself.
I can "see" and use the servers shares with windows and linux clients.
Everithing - including the security settings - for the shares works as
expected.
I can join a client to the domain, this works with manual adding the
machine account as well as with the adduser script . I

Domain controller problems
Hello!
I am trying to set up a domain for my home network, but I ran into problems.
The situation: The Debian server has netbios name "server", there are
more PCs, I will only talk about "pchrispc". The user I want to setup
is "pappl".
Here is what I did:
Installed Samba, configured it correctly (domain master, netlogon, etc.),
added the UNIX user

Cannot login from windows
I've been reading all over and I think I've tried everything except the
right way, but I cannot seem to login to my samba server from windows.
I am using Samba 3.0.33 on Linux as the server, and have Linux, windows
XP, and Windows Vista clients. I am only on a home network so I don't
have a need for fancy stuff, I am just setting up a means for
filesharing besides ssh. I can

Intermittent failures mapping drives.. need debugging help/sugges tions
There is a problem with a user mapping a network drive. Sometimes
he can map it, sometimes he can't.

rsc is a valid account on the machine he's trying to connect to
(entry in /etc/passwd, decent permissions on home directory and
all parent directories, etc.)

Problems with GID Samba 3.0.0 Beta2 Debian Testing
Hello,
I've got a somehow weird problem with the primary GID of samba users.
passdb backend is tdbsam.
when I connect to the samba server my gid is set to 2147483404 instead of
1002 (domainusers). The GID 1002 ist configured as my primary group in
/etc/passwd. This also happens with other usernames.
After deleting group_mapping.tdb this worked for some hours but the error
came back.
