Compiling Samba on AIX 5.3 with idmap_rid fails
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use idmap_rid with Samba 3.0.21c on AIX 5.3. So far, I've not been successful. I've followed the method from http://us5.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/AIX/README to compile Samba, but added "--with-static-modules=idmap_rid". Also, I used IBM's compiler and not gcc. The compilation fails as follows: [...] Compiling sam/idmap.c Compiling

3.0.21c: idmap_rid segfaults on AIX 5.3 ML4
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use idmap_rid on an AIX 5.3 ML4 machine. Samba compiled successfully using the IBM compiler (vac.C) version 6. The only programs I supplied where db and libiconv. I followed the instructions, and put nsswitch/WINBIND in /usr/lib/security, and edited /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg. When I start "winbindd -i", it coredumps with a Signal 11: (dbx) where

Authentication and trusted domains
Hi there, This is most likely something very basic which I'm not seeing right now. I have a Samba-server, which is running in security = domain, and it's a member of that domain (DOMAINA). The domain is a Win2003 domain. That domain has established a trust with another domain (DOMAINB). There's a Windows terminal server TERMSRV which is a member of DOMAINA, but a user from DOMAINB

How to compile with AIX xlc?
During configure, it is running xlc -version for some reason, and xlc does not have a --version option, so it is showing usage information instead. How do you compile with xlc 6.0? David David Shapiro Unix Team Lead 919-765-2011

Samba 2.2.2, Outlook 2000 and Act!2000 problems
Hi all, I've searched the archives about my problem and I did find some things, but I didn't find a solution I'm running Samba 2.2.2 on an i386 Linux 2.2.19 machine. Samba is the PDC for several Windows 2000 clients. In general, everything seems to work fine, except two applications. Each user has his own U: share. Outlook 2000 accesses a .PST file in that share. It works fine, but

(Locking?) problem with Samba 2.2.2, Win2kSP2
Hi all, I have the following problem. A Linux (2.2.19) machine is running Samba 2.2.2 as a PDC. The clients are Win2K SP2. A user accesses several Excel 2000 files on a share. This sometimes results in long(ish) delays (the user reports around 10 seconds, although this could be longer) and the message from Excel that the file is in use and can only be read. After closing and re-opening the file,

Anyone interested in scripts for multiple PXELinux configs in a single TFTP directory
Dear syslinux list members, I'm a newbie on this list. I hope I don't offend anyone by being slightly off-topic. I had the problem of wanting multiple Linux distros (i.c. Debian, Ubuntu, OpenSuSE, SuSE, RedHat, CentOS, Fedora) installable from a single PXELinux menu, so I wrote a couple of scripts that do what is described below. The question is whether anyone would be interested in

Not to be rude, but I believe you are the only one who suggested he use asterisk@home. asterisk@home is a great (actually stupendous) product for those that want to have a PBX with a GUI up and running within a few minutes. It does not, however, force users

Somewhat OT: OpenOffice.org Headless issues as non-root user
Hi, I've installed recently OpenOffice.org 3.1 on Centos 5.3. I use OOo in headless mode. I have no problem when running as root, but I'd prefer run it as non-root user (oooserver user). When I run the script in debug mode this is the output: sh -x /tmp/ooo-headless-nonroot start + . /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions ++ TEXTDOMAIN=initscripts ++ umask 022 ++

VirtualBox headless
Hello, I'm trying to use the VirtualBox/vbox driver together with libvirt 0.8.1 on a Ubuntu Lucid Machine, VirtualBox Release 3.1. The goal is to run the virtual machines headless and to connect using RDP. When starting a virtual domain using 'virsh start <domainname>' the GUI of VirtualBox will pop up and I see no option to prevent this. If X is not running, the virsh command

Headless WINE (nulldrv, winetty)
I'm running a headless Linux installation (FC11) on Amazon EC2 and need to run some console-based (no window) 32-bit DOS executables... I've been running this fine for the past couple years on another installation (FC10) with v1.1.23, by setting the "TERM" environment variable to "xterm" and I believe it ran the "tty" graphics-driver and worked just great.

headless VirtualBox on Centos
Awesome! Thanks for your replies everybody. I was looking more or less at the same options. Just was wondering if there was a ready-made set of scripts somewhere to set all of this in motion to save me a little time - but if not, I will just make one. Cheers, Boris.
