smbmounts hang around after windows client disconnects
Using 2.2.1a and a 2.4 kernel patched for win4lin. Everything is working but: I mount all the available network shares on my linux box as root to one network directory. If a windows client shuts down while the linux box is still connected, the share is not removed from my mount list or from /proc/mounts It cannot be removed with umount. I can kill the smbmount with kill -15 but the share is still

lmer4 and variable selection
Dear list, I am currently working with a rather large data set on body temperature regulation in wintering birds. My original model contains quite a few dependent variables, but I do not (of course) wish to keep them all in my final model. I've fitted the following model to the data: >

posting a question in the R-help forum
Hello, I wanted to post this question below, on the R-help forum, but I'm not sure I succeeded because it said that I wasn't subscribed to the mailing list yet. Now I am subscribed, but will my question be accepted now automatically, or should I submit it again? NA confusion (length question)
Hi folks, I am running a very simple regression using mylm <- lm(mass ~ tarsus, na.action=na.exclude) I would like the use the residuals from this analysis for more regression but I'm running into a snag when I try cbind(mylm$residuals, mydata) # where my data is the original data set The error tells me that it cannot use cbind because the length of mylm$residuals is

that your written english is not that bad. And yes, getting Samba and Winbind setup correctly so that all your authentication is being done through a pre-existing WinNT/Win2K primary domain controller is great. Right now, I am only using winbind for authenticating and restricting access to Samba shares. I would try out using it for other things, but there is no reason to. We've already got a

[PATCH] nvkm/iccsense: Parse the resistors and config the right way
Previously we parsed that table a bit wrong: 1. The entry layout depends on the sensor type used. 2. We have all resitors in one entry for the INA3221. 3. The config is already included in the vbios. This commit addresses that issue and with that we should be able to read out the right power consumption for every GPU with a INA209, INA219 and INA3221. Signed-off-by: Karol Herbst <karolherbst

bug+fix: isolinux, mkisofs - added one directory to the CD => won't boot
[cross-posted to nntp://comp.os.linux.setup, sorry] Dear Everyone, I'm writing this message merely to publish this information somewhere visible, so that others can find it when debugging a linux-based bootable CD compilation setup... For many months now, I've been using cdrtools 2.0 with isolinux 2.04 to create bootable Linux CD's. I know there are newer versions of both

winbind - getent passwd
I can't find the thread but someone last week was having trouble with 'getent passwd' not returning the Windows domain users as well as the local users. 'wbinfo -u' worked but not 'getent passwd'. I just finished a new server and had the same problem. Turns out I overlooked the the symbolic links in /lib. The file libnss_winbind.so needs to have a link to

Why a copy of smbd for each smbmount mountpoint?
When an OS/2 or Win9x client logs into a (Linux) Samba v2.0.6 server the running smbd spawns a copy of itself. That second instance of smbd then handles all the shares for that client machine. In contrast, a Linux client which does multiple smbmounts (also Samba v2.0.6) will cause the server to spawn a copy of smbd for *each* smbmount mountpoint. This has the potential for using up a lot more

Smbmount (2.2.3a) and windows
Hi All, We changed out our main web server this morning in favor of linux/apache, and everything was working well, except that we make smbmounts to the old web server (it's xxx.xxx.xxx.51 now), the apache web server is xxx.xxx.xxx.2, and when xxx.xxx.xxx.51 died, all the machines communicating with it (via smbmount) stopped responding EXCEPT for the apache web server, which was issuing

Moving axis-labels
Hi, This is hopefully quite a straightforward quandary. I have made a simple R plot but the values on my x-axis are sufficiently large enough that they interfere my x-axis label. How can I shunt the x-axis label further away from the x-axis? Thanks Jim ---------------------- JS Walker jw2324 at bristol.ac.uk

smbmount problem
Hello. I hope that this is the proper place to ask this. Here is my problem. I have several smbmounts under Red Hat Linux 5.1. They need to be accessed by my apache web server. One of the mounts keeps getting disconnected, but this is not noticed by Linux. So the Linux box thinks that the files under the smbmount are still accessable when they aren't actually mounted. What would be the best

root ext3 gets fsck'ed after crash
When I first installed ext3, it worked as expected. After a crash, journals would be played, and no fsck. Now, every crash causes an fsck, just like it were a regular ext2, even though / has a journal and is being mounted as ext3. does smbmount use keepalive and/or smb.conf?
Greetings, I don't know how common an issue this is as I haven't found much in the list archives that was helpful to me, so I'm hoping for some pointers. FYI, we have samba 2.3.3a-6 running on the 2.4.18-10 kernel. There seems to be an issue with smbfs mounts at times where connectivity may be lost (e.g. Win share becomes unavailable) causing local processes such as lsof or ps,
