addriver
Hi, I am using samba with NT 4.0 and Solaris. I got LPRng working with Samba. But, downloading of drivers from the server still deosn't work. Do I *need* to user rpcclient to install drivers on server ? I have already copied drivers to $print/W32X86 directory. I tried using rpcclient with adddriver command. But it gave following errors. rpcclient $> adddriver "Windows NT x86"

Printing question
Hello all. I have a question about setting up samba to serve windows printing. I have been trying to research this but keep coming up with conflicting howto's. Can someone give me directions to an up-to-date print howto? It would be greatly appreciated as I am stuck on this. utmp and 2.2.3a
Hi, Samba 2.2.3a release notes say that utmp is fixed in this version. But doesn't seem to be working with me. I have few of my shares enables with this option and 'utmp directory' is set globally. Am I missing something here ? or this still remains a bug ? regards Amit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Amit Deshmukh Graduate Student

Win2k clients and PDC
Hi, We have Samba 2.2.6(+2.2.7 security patch) installed on solaris. Samba is used as PDC for WinNT and Win2K clients. The WinNT machines have no problems geting into the domain as machine trust accounts exist in /etc/passwd and smbpasswd file. However, Win2k clients are not able to join the domain. I did go through the documentation, and hence created root account in 'smbpasswd'

Odd LPQ behavior in 3.0.x
Here is what I'm seeing after upgrading to 3.0.x: 1) Jobs no longer properly report their status, using LPRng's lpq. I see, instead, no listing for status and a listing for number of pages in the job. While that is also useful information, it does not allow me to act on jobs as I'd like to (resume/pause/etc). 2) Basically EVERY job that has ever printed via Samba on that printer

Favorite print command for SAMBA on Sol 2.5.1
I am having problems with the HP printers that are being handled by a Solaris 2.5.1 machine. The boring details are towards the end. The SAMBA print command I currently use is: print command = echo %u - %s to %p at %T >> /tmp/smb-print.log ; \ lpr -P %p %s ; \ rm %s ; These are EXACTLY the way they are in the smb.conf file. The server will print 99.9% of

Printer Problems (Access Denied)
I've seen this issue asked about and asked about in the archives, unfortunately I can't seem to find a real solution only people's theories. The issue involves a 2.2.5 Samba server acting as a member print server in a Windows 2000 domain. I can add printers from the server to clients in the domain and then print. The issue comes when I try and view/manage the print queue from Windows.

LPRng and SAMBA
First of all, thanks to everyone who has helped me out so far resolving my samba problems! The latest has to do with LPRng and directory permissions. LPRng requires 0600 permissions on the spool directory, owner daemon group daemon. Whenever a user tries to print through SAMBA, they do not have write access to the spool directory, as teh job comes in user/group of the person who printed. Any

Fwd: "Make_passthrough: pid XXXX, dup2(6, 0) failed" with LPRNG 3.8.C and Samba 4.3.8 on FreeBSD
(FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-p4 i386, Lprng 3.8.C and Samba 4.3.8 installed via pkg()) I have set up a PDF converter queue that converts PS input to PDF and puts it on its website. Recently I had samba join the AD domain here, and ever since my pdf converter fails. Upon much trial, error and debugging I found out that when I start the Lprng service BEFORE the Samba service, everything is working.
