AW: Samba 2.2.1 and W2k SP2
Hi, at first, you have to use Samba Version 2.2.1 or higher. When you try to join the domain you have to give the root password, to authorize that the Client joins the domain. I don't know special HOWTos for w2k client, only the original PDC HowTo on www.samba.org. greetings PHJ -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: Goetz Reinicke [mailto:goetz.reinicke@filmakademie.de] Gesendet:

`file exists', and messed up timestamps with NT4SP6
Hello! We've been using our new samba fileserver for a while now (its running on FreeBSD), and found two problems. First the one we were already able to solve: NT4SP6 machines copying files to the server with e.g. the standard explorer resulted in the files ending up with wrong timestamps (`now' instead of what was on the original files). After some archive searching i tried this in

information module Wilks' lambda criterion
Hi everybody, I was wondering if you can help me about a module. In fact, I'm looking for a package or module about Wilks' lambda criterion in R environment. I didn't find it in R website ( http://cran.cict.fr/web/packages/index.html#available-packages-W or http://search.cpan.org/faq.html). If this module exists, could you show me the command line. Thank you very much for your help,

rpcclient enumdrivers 3 times out on NT drivers
This is puzzling me (and hampering some work, slightly): NT4SP6 + full updates server, with some printers attached. "rpcclient -U admin%pass enumdrivers 2" server gives me a list of stuff like this: [Windows 4.0] Printer Driver Info 2: Version: [0] Driver Name: [HP LaserJet 5Si PCL 5e] Architecture: [Windows 4.0] Driver Path:

Unable to enable Add/Remove Printer Drivers (3.0.0)
I used to be able to load printer drivers via "server properties". Now when I go in the printer drivers are listed and I can use the properties button but the Add/Remove buttons are greyed out. This is a Samba 3.0.0/2.4.2-SGI_XFS_1.0 box and I've tried both NT4sp6 and Win2003beta clients (both exhibit the same behaviour). I see the following in the log when I connect to

adding machines to a pre 3 pdc
I just upgraded to the latest and greatest samba in Debian sid (2.999+3.0cvs20020723-1), and And am now unable to have machine domain logins. Part of the problem was my fault a poorly done conversion to passdb.tdb where I lost the original machine accounts. I deleted all the original unix machine accounts. I mapped Domain Admins, Power users, and users with smbgroupedit this seemed to work

An example (was RE: file connection, while, readLines and bro wser)
Prof. Gentleman (and R-help), Here's an example of what didn't work. I still don't understand why. Function: trycon <- function(file, n) { f.con <- file(file, open="rt") on.exit(close(f.con)) i <- 0 while( length(readln <- readLines(f.con, 1)) > 0 ) { x <- unlist(strsplit(readln, " ")) if(length(x) <= 6 && x[3] ==

problem with while loop with next (was RE: file connection, w hile, readLines and browser)
Dear R-help, I think I have kinda isolated the problem I had to the following: i <- 0 while( {i <- i + 1} < 5) { if(i < 3) next print(i) } This seems to go into an infinite loop. After I break the execution, i has the value 1. At the R prompt, if I start from i <- 0 and keep typing {i <- i + 1} < 5, it eventually evaluate to TRUE. So why does the while loop not work?

RE: problem with while loop with next
Prof. Tierney, Thanks very much for the info. Why does the loop work if I move the assignment out of the condition? E.g., the following works: i <- 0 while(i < 5) { i <- i + 1 if(i < 3) next print(i) } Regards, Andy > -----Original Message----- > From: Luke Tierney [mailto:luke at nokomis.stat.umn.edu] > Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2001 3:36 PM > To: Liaw, Andy

smbclient, DFS and not_defined_in_RFC4178 [samba 3.4.7 and windows 2003 sp2 AND 2008 sp2]
Hi all, I'm trying to use DFS. Using smbclient 3.4.7 (distributed with Lucid) and windows servers with both 2008sp2 and 2003sp2. Smbclient successfully lookups up our DCC's. If the first in the DNS reply is a 2003 server it works but if I get a 2008 it doesn't. The main differences is that I get a "not_defined_in_RFC4178 at please_ignore" principal in the SMB Negotiate

Is samba or a kernel bug causing my FC4 server to crash?
I've got a fully updated Fedora Core 4 server crashing hard every week or two. I use Samba via smbmount and autofs to read & delete log files on 17 XP boxs and 6 NT4SP6 boxes as well as a couple other Windows files servers every 5 minutes. The first indication of a problem I get is smbmount stops working, then the server becomes unresponsive to the point where only a power slam will fix
