NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED??
I installed Samba2.0.7 on my FreeBSD 4.1 box and joined an NT domain.
It worked perfect until I changed the hostname today. I found that I couldn't
chage the machine password if hostname length is 15. The precedure I
do is
1. stop samba
2. change hostname to "abcde1234567890"
3. run smbpasswd -j DOM -r DomControl, then I get the following error
message.

Problems authenticating against NT PDC
I'm relatively new to Samba so please excuse any inconsistencies with my
terminology.
I'm running Samba 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.6 and having problems creating the Samba
server machine account on an NT PDC.
I already have an NT based domain 'PCDEV' which consists of a number of NT 4.0
workstations as well as a PDC ('AULE') and BDC running NT 4.0 Server with sp5

Samba 2.0.5a error when adding machine to domain
Yesterday, I found that a required file for Samba was empty and had
been modified recently (< 1 hour before I was called to investigate). I
later found out that the Samba software modifies this file on a set schedule
if I leave the default settings alone. The file was PAYCHEX.<netbios-nameA>.mac.
Because this file was empty, I figured I was screwed and had to add the machine

Method to verify existance of trust account?
I'm still fighting with getting a Samba server (RH Linux 7.2, kernel
2.4.9-21, samba 2.2.4) to join an NT domain (NT 4.0, SP6). Everything I've
read in the documentation indicates that this works well and readily, but I
cannot get it to work.
The error message received when attempting to join a domain is:

Domain Authorization
Greetings,
Normally I lurk on a list before posting, but I don't have the
luxury to take the time to lurk this time around. I apologize ahead of
time for any breaches of etiquette that you have on the list.
I have just setup a RedHat 6.0 system with Samba 2.0.6 (via RPM
packages, not source.) I've been adminning Linux for four years, but this
is my first attempt with Samba, so I'm

SAMBA and NT4 domain
I have replaced several NT servers with SAMBA on FreeBSD 4.7. The versions
of SAMBA vary from 2.2.7a to 2.2.8.
The SAMBA servers have been joined to the domain and show up as Windows NT
4.9 Server under Server Manager on NT. I am now down to two remaining NT4
servers that are domain controllers. I am experiencing two issues; NetBIOS
resolution seems to have gotten messed up and the logs on the NT

samba and PDC don't trust
Hello people,
I've been reading along and found that document... however I still have
some trouble, which I do not really understand.
The things I have done:
- on the PDC I have deleted the name of my samba server and recreated it.
- next on the linux server I did: smbpasswd -r stromboli -j actuera.nl
I then get a message that goes like this:
root@intranet:/var/log/samba# smbpasswd -r

**RE: Socket Address & Virtual Samba Servers**
Thanks to all that replied :
Gerald W. Carter, Levent ...
Actually, I'd already done what had been suggested ...
socket address = 10.10.10.5
interfaces = 10.10.10.5/24
It appears to working now...
I think my problems were two-fold :
1. I made separate locks directories :
/var/samba1/locks
/var/samba2/locks
and specified them in the smb1.conf & smb2.conf

BUG or FEATURE ?
Hi
I'am standing hopeless in the desert.
I spent a long time to run the move of your windows nt shit to windows 2000.
On microsofts side all worked fine. Microsoft wrote that I can switch to
native mode when I upgraded all my NT DC's.
..... So I did ......
Now my samba client can't join the win2000 domain.
I get following message:
