win95-98 problems
I've installed samba in my linux machine (Mandrake 7.2).
With WinNT and Win2000 there is no problems, but in Win95 and Win98 It's impossible to read files, and open exixting folders, the error is: "the file (folder) don't exist".
If I try to create one, It'isn't shown, there is an error, but if I go in machine with win2000 the folder(file) is there.
How can I resolve

Hi folks,
From my RedHat Linux box Im using

Password problems with Samba on Alpha system
We have tried a couple of versions of Samba on an DEC Alpha running Tru64.
Most users can use this perfectly but a few get rejected at the password
authentication, and get logged on as guest users.
Machine is running NIS, and Makefile was generated automatically.
Win98 and Win2000 machines have had the "plain text password" patch to the
registry. Problem seems to lie on the server as

I installed wine-20010305-1.i386.rpm and then ran winesetup.
When it got to Autodetect I got following message:

I use samba 2.0.5a on a linux slackware 4.0 (kernel 2.2.6) machine and a

When I mount a WinNT share (i.e. test) with command "smbmount

/mnt directory.
I read dates from 1900 since 2100. If I "touch" to create

Q. for Samba gurus.
Hi,
I want to use Samba as a 'special' printer server only, namely a
FAX print server for Win-95 and Win-NT systems. The users on these
systems must be registered in my Unix /etc/passwd file.
I noticed a difference in behaviour between Win-95 and Win NT
that prevents me from reaching my goal.
With Win-95, the spool file is created as 'user', with Win-NT the
spool file is created

Windows 2000 printer sharing
Hello
I am running RH7.2 with samba-common-2.2.1a-4 and samba-client-2.2.1a-4 and
for printing I use a windows printer (SMB share). Previously this printserver was running
under WinNT, and for the installation of this printer I used the installation wizard
under RH7.2. Furthermore no modifications were made to the SMBclient (smb.conf) nor the WinNT printserver.
Recently, they upgraded the

User Profiles
Hello all.
I'm in the process of getting roaming profiles up and running on a RH 7.3 installation, running as a PDC on an 'NT Domain'.
I've been reading the PROFILES.txt, and need to clear some things up. Do the rules that apply for WinNT, apply to Win2000, specifically the NTConfig.Pol file. If it does, I can't find it on either the samba server or the Win2000 machine,

I'm trying to get the game Halflife working with Wine.
I downloaded the latest Wineversion with CVS.
I built it with :

Then I insert the halflife cdrom and do:
# mount /mnt/cdrom
# cd /mnt/cdrom
# wine SETUP.EXE
It loads up the Halflife install wizard (progressbar goes from 0 to
