Corrupt Database and couldn't map SID.
I'm running Samba 3.0.11. Compiled with:
./configure '--with-ads' '--with-pam' '--with-winbind' '--with-smbmount' '--with-shared-modules=idmap_rid'
It configured, make and make installed fine. I configured the idmap_rid using the following directives in the smb.conf.
; IDMap Stuff
idmap backend = idmap_rid:<DOMAINNAME>=500-100000000

Samba stops working on HP-UX 11
I've had a consistent problem with Samba from 2.2.1 onwards, maybe even
before then, I'm not sure when it started.
Anyway, Samba will randomly stop responding to any requests, although
it usually occurs after transfering large amounts of data (1 GB+). To
get around the problem, I've been restarting samba every night, but we
still have the problem occasionally.

Bad magic on Winbind authentication
I am running Ubuntu with LTSP authenticating to ADS on a Windows 2003 server
SP1. My windows side of the network is running fine. The Linux terminals are not
able to login all users... weirdly, some can, some can't. In my
log.winbindd-idmap file, I get a slew of entries similar to this:

Overloaded samba server. Is it a bug?
Experts,
We've just migrated from samba 2.2.8a to samba 3.0.20b in a very large
corporate environment. Everything was really fine in our lab, but we
began
experiment serious load problems on the productive servers the morning
after
the procedure took place. I'll try (briefly) to describe the
characteristics
of the scenario:

Hello,
after an update from Samba 2.2.12 to 3.0.22 and running the daemons 2-3
days my Samba Server freeze the whole Server.
First the clients get connection problems, timing out to access the shares
and then some minutes later the whole Server freeze, i can't even logon on
the console. Only a cold reset is possible.
I convert all files from latin-1 to a UTF-8 and then from UTF-8 to

corruption in the locking tdb, samba panics
Hello,
last friday I switched my users from an old server running 2.2.12 to a
new one running 3.0.10 (that I've been testing myself and with
smbtorture). After a while I had to switch back to the old server
because some users were having serious problems. This is one of the logs
(the others are very similar):

re. Initial Samba Setup
On a recommendation from this list I checked the junklog file, the
output from which I attached below. It looks as if it does not even see
the linux machine as it indicates not seeing "explorer" which is the
local netbios name. The Win XP machine does not even show in the log.
Here is the last entry for nmbd.log:

Hi everyone,
Just today one of our users informed me that a file she was working on in
Microsoft Excel 97 got corrupted. She was working on the file directly on

Linux kernel 2.4.17-xfs and XFS-based filesystems.
I checked the Samba logs for her machine and found the following in a

Oplock problems under high load
Hello, all.
I'm using Samba 2.2.2 at my FreeBSD 4.4-STABLE server, and have next
problems:
There is pool of W2K machines, each starting compilation job (usually 2
at one dual CPU machine).
Then these jobs trying to simultaneously access sources, located at
Samba server, appear problems.
Then I running 2 compilation threads from single machine - there is no
problems.
