Problems with registering new emails - imap/jfs/maildir
After changing a mailserver from using mbox/ext3 (RHL9) to Maildir/jfs (RHEL 3), dovecot 0.99.10 no longer reports new email even if asked... I have to restart the mail client and do a fresh login to notice new email. This happens with multiple mail clients on multiple platforms, and didn't happen before the conversion... any suggestions on workarounds? -- Trond Eivind Glomsr?d Senior

Can't compile under RH 7.2
All -- Has anyone gotten samba to compile under RH 7.2? I tried: 2.2.2 NOPE 2.2.0 NOPE 2.0.0 NOPE 1.9.00 YES CVS HEAD NOPE In the cases of the 2.* versions (and CVS head) I ran ./configure and make. In the case of 1.9.00, I edited the Makefile for a non- shadow Linux host (and added -lcrypt). I'm attaching a typescript file of my latest attempt at

Samba-2.2.2-1 and libcups.so.2
I have been having problems installing Samba-2.2.2-1. I first downloaded the source, built, install on a RH 7.1 installation. When attempting to run /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start, smbd returns 255 (echo $? on the next line). I then decided to use a RedHat rpm to install the binaries since the built image seems not to be installed to the same places as the previous version was installed on RH 7.1

Samba and RedHat 7.2
Well, I thought I was an "experience" samba user, but I've ran into something I've never seen before: All SAMBA protocols (smbd and nmbd) work fine on the "localhost", but do not work from a remote system (NT or Linux). This includes "telnet server 139". Basically, the telnet test works as one would expect from the localhost, but not from any remote system.

How do you guys protect Samba shares from Win32 based viruses?
That's pretty much the question. I've got Symantec NAVCE running on my NT server protecting itself, the Windows clients and the Exchange server, but what do i do about my Linux based Samba server? Will a linux based AV app search for Win32 based viruses? Thanks, VeKTeReX

large files
I'm reposting this problem (perhaps a bug) now I've got more information on it. This is another point of view of the situation and I hope someone could have run into the same trouble before (and solved it :-)) This is it: * with ntbackup 2000 I create a 22Gb .bkf file in the windows machine. * I can copy that file over a samba share and get correct info form the file in windows

Samba installation - "execvp - permission denied" problem - Plz help
Hi there, I have installed samba-2.2.2 on Redhat linux 7.0 . I have setup the whole server properly and have run the ./configure, make and make install commands successfully. I have even written a basic smb.conf file which is located in /etc/samba . The testparm on the conf file shows no errors. i have checked the /etc/services file for the netbios services and they are all done properly

The regular map.resources :gifts map.resources :wishlists map.resources :invitations map.resources :comments does not work. Specify Includes Only
Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, but I just can't find anywhere on the net that tells me how to do this. I've been trying for ages to get this right, using various forms of --include-from, --exclude, --filter, etc. I want to copy only specific directories that contain specific filetypes, from sourcedir to destdir. For example, I want to copy all .mp3 and all .ogg files found in

adding factor scores back to an incomplete dataset...
I am sure there is a simple way to do the following, but i haven't been able to find it. I am hoping a merciful soul on R-help could point me in the right direction. I am doing a factor analysis on survey data with missing values. to do this, I run: FA1<-factanal(na.omit(DATA), factors = X, rotation = 'oblimin', scores = 'regression') Now that I have my factors and

MBOX to MAILDIR conversion
Thinking about going from mbox to maildir. Started with mbox way back when but thinking about making the conversion. The main reason is that I use rsync for backups and when these huge mailboxes are touched I have to copy the whole thing. With maildir I only copy the files that change. So - my questions is - what's the easiest way to make this happan. I assume there are conversion

Two problems: -u together with -c and and a symlink problem
Hi, I have two problems with rsync 1st) if I give both commandline options -u and -c it looks as if a file which is more recent but different on the destination is not updated, i.e. -u overrules -c Is that true? 2nd) There is a symlink A on <SourceDir> which refers to a directory On the other hand, A is the name of a subdirectory of <DestDir> Now doing
