paper size in postscript driver
I have a non-PS printer setup to print under linux using ghostscript as a
filter. This printer has two paper trays, one has letter paper, the other
tabloid size paper. If I print from a program that uses a PPD file to
configure the printer, like StarOffice or The Gimp, I can select the paper
size from a nifty list. If I select letter size, the printer print with
paper from the letter tray. If

Can't do Landscape with ManualFeed
Hi:
I am haviong problems with Landscape mode on our HP printers (many models).
I am running 2.2.7a on two different servers. One is using the "old style"
printing (using "printer driver file" parameter). The other is using the
newer printing system. It is the same code on both. Both are Solaris
systems. For the old one, the drivers are installed on the client, for the

hi list,
We got the following problem:
We try to use samba 2.2.5 as a printserver for windoze clients
(samba 2.2.5 on RH linux 8 w/ CUPS 1.1.15).
CUPS works w/o any problems, but when we try to generate the drivers for
the windoze clients (by using cupsaddsmb), we get the following error:

We have an existing Samba Print Server, running RedHat linux, kernel

HP Jetdirect, Intel Netport, Samba, And Windows XP
Hello,
I have a bunch of Windows XP Pro machines, Samba 2.2.4, and several plotters on Jetdirect cards, and several printers on Netport 10/100 Muli-port network print servers.
I have successfully configured Samba 2.2.4 to allow Windows XP to join the domain controlled by Samba and automaticaly create its own computer account on Samba.
I would now like to setup Samba to share all the printers

printing = lprng working?
Hi
I updated samba today to 3.0.5. Printing stopped working. The log says:
[2004/08/02 14:28:57, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_printer_fn(108)
Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost - Verbindungsaufbau abgelehnt
I'm using lprng not cups. Is samba ignoring printing = lprng?
I tested lpr it still works as usual.
Is there anything else I should check?
Thanks.
Best,
Hans

Printing to Samba 2.0.7 from Windows 2000
Hi,
I've recently installed LPRng 3.6.22, ifhp 3.3.19, and
Samba 2.0.7 on my FreeBSD 4.1 system. Printing works
fine from the FreeBSD machine, and I am able to access
shares via my Win2000 machine. I've configured a
[printers] section in smb.conf, and I am able to see
the LaserJet 2100 when browsing, but on installing it
I am unable to print to it. I get en error connecting

LPRng question
<It seems that the print command is trying to find the printer at
location 'localhost'. Since this is a network printer it is not at
localhost is it?>
Yeah, the error messages made no sense to me either!
Well, like I said earlier: < The IP address of this printer is 10.1.1.192. I
call this
printer nero, and have it listed in my /etc/hosts file>
Here is a copy of part of my

Printer errors
Hello all,
Got SAMBA running on a linux 2.0.32 box, and all is well. Looked over the
docs and set up my printer with the (what I think) are correct entries.
Basically, what the default smb.conf has. Testparms says it o.k.! And I
can print (lpr) locally.
Windows sees both printcap entries (inkjet and psjet), but any attempt to
pring to them errors out. I then added the print command =

Ghostscript update?
Has the issue with the last ghostscript update been resolved? I temporarily added ghostcript to the excludes line in my yum.conf to prevent problems and haven't seen any more mention of it here.

Centos 7: printing four copies with Libreoffice prints garbage
I have a Xerox Phaser 3250 printer
It worked perfectly under Centos 6 when I told cups that it was a Xerox Phaser 3150.
It works under Centos 7, too. I can print pdf files from evince and whatnot with no problems, and printing one, two or three copies of a document from libreoffice works as well.
However, if I tell libreoffice to print four copies of a document ("number of copies"

SuSE 7.1 timeout problem
Hello,
I just moved from SuSE 7.0 to SuSE 7.1 by reinstalling.
I use HP 2100TN JetDirect printer. I use kernel-2.4.2, LPRng-3.6.26,
ifhp-3.4.4, Samba-2.0.7
Printing from Linux server works just as before. Printing from Windows clients
has problems. I set it up just like before but any print job from Windows takes
its while and then spits out junk:

79.00FE error on HP8150DN
For some reason, our HP8150DN printers hang with this error and
require power-cycling after a user tries to print any job from
Windows2000 or NT (including a test page). The Samba server is running
2.2.5 on a Solaris 2.6 box using Sun's printing system. It forwards
all jobs to another Solaris machine that runs LPRng-3.8.2 and
ifhp-3.5.1. I am able to install and use all of our printers

SOLVED: Centos 7: printing four copies with Libreoffice prints garbage
After much head scratching and throwing most of a ream of paper into the trash, I just found and solved the problem.
Thinking that perhaps I have a cable issue, I was re-seating the usb cable that connects my Xerox Phaser 3250 printer to the computer and realized that the printer was plugged into a USB 3.0 port on my computer. When I moved it to a USB 2.0 port, the printer immediately started

2.2.6 and printer questions
Hi @all,
I have 2 questions about printer driver installation on w2k-client for a samba served printer:
1.
If I want to install a driver on w2k workstation, I choose network printer and then can browse the network. If printers are served from a Nt/w2k-server, in my opinion it is not nessesary to double click the netbios name of the Nt/w2k-server to see the shared printers. In this case under
