attr_accessor vs attr_accessible
Please guide me how to use those two methods. I can''t differentiate
them. I was doing something on my model and I have put one field in the
attr_accessible method. After that when I try to run the app the app
always says my other fields are blank, but they''re all filled up.
What''s wrong with it?
Thanks

altering the "create mode" for samba shares
Hi, I'm Samba is a new thing for me and I hope my question will make
some sense!
I have created several samba shares listed in my smb.conf file and have
the option "create mode = 0660" set.
This is fine most of the time, however sometimes certain users create
files (for web pages) that they want to be
world-readable. How can I keep my default setting at 660, but have some

subnet browsing crappy solution!
Trying all the stupid methods to solve the issue of Win2k hosts from
different subnets that can't be seen in the NetworkNeighbourhood when server
is Samba on Linux (including reading the F***ing manuals and not finding
anything useful or browsing through the source of samba until my eyes fall
in my mouth) I have decided that they were, well... ,stupid and chose to try

Re: So you all think VoIP sypply is warm andfuzzy
After an extensive conversation with Mediatrx 's sales department , I
stand corrected and so does the salesman who spoke to me. My apologies
to Voip Supply. I understand now you never knew about the CD.

Distributed indexes, maildir_copy_preserve_filename, and Microsoft
Hi,
I've just completed a migration from Courier to a Dovecot 1.0.7 (patched
RHE 5) which is working great, except for this weirdness of an issue
that is impacting a handful of users. My question is that will turning
off maildir_copy_preserve_filename help or hurt in a situation where
there are multiple servers with their own local INDEX files (uidlist is
shared)?
The problem is that a

File Locking problem
Hi, I have an SMB server running RH6.2 with SMB 2.0.7.
All the clients are WIN95, and require access to a database on the SAMBA
server.
The problem is that the database locks the file while the user is modifying
it, and then unlocks it when the user returns to the programs menu. If the
user then selects another action that uses the same file the program reports
that the file is locked.

The case of the disappearing INBOX's - upgrade to 1.1.1 from 1.0.7 and based on Email client type
Hi,
I apologize if this has already been answered. I looked for an identical
message but had no luck. I'm also not convinced this is a bug or if it
is a bug that I want it fixed. The problem gives me a great reason to
change our configuration to something more modern.
Here is the situation. Our 1.0.7 configuration has the following, and
only, namespace definition.
namespace private {

namespaces...
Hi,
I am new to dovecot and I am a bit confused with how namespaces/prefixes/separators are handled by the clients and dovecot...
I tried to understand the desciption from the conf file but without success.
With each conf I create the following path /f1/f2 on the client (thunderbird) and get the following on the dovecot server:
PREFIX= and separator=/ => .INBOX.f1.f2 + .INBOXTrash

Problem mapping drive names on Win95
Hi,
in my Office, I'm trying to replace a Novell-server by a Linux-server.
On the Novell-server, there is the SYS: volume. On this volume
is a directory named DriveT. I did a map on it, so this SYS:DriveT was
used as T: . If you link Excel sheets, which are stored on T:,
to Word documents, Word unfortunately saves the UNC path,
which is \\SERVER1\SYS\DRIVET instead of T:
On my new Samba

IMAP maildir performance difference between dovecot-uidlist versions?
Hi,
Is there an IMAP performance difference using Maildir between using
version 3 and version 1 of the dovecot-uidlist (either dovecot 1.0.7 or
1.1.2)? It isn't entirely clear to me there is any difference as the
filename may contain the size/vsize information. The servers will
eventually be running 1.1.2 with the maildir_copy_preserve_filename
turned on.
I'm doing a batch migration

Is there a straight forward way to associate login with imap process
Hi,
Is there a way to associate a user's the login (imap-login) process with
the user's 'imap [' process? We are trying to lock down an issue to
make sure we full understand it. /proc and shared memory tools weren't
particular useful.
Just for context, we are having an intermittent locking index cache
locking issue that appears to impact only a subset of our users. The

Sudden, large numbers of "Timeout while waiting for lock for transaction log ..."
Hi,
Up until yesterday, our environment which consists an NFS maildir file
store with multiple front end servers, was working fine. We've verified
that the server clocks and machines clocks are in sync.
Starting yesterday afternoon, We are getting ~850 log entries of the
form 'Timeout while waiting for lock for transaction log files' or 'Our

DC testing observation and a question
I have been running a test DC IMAP server to evaluate the new release
before migrating from 1.0.15 to 1.1.8. The test server access all the
INBOX and homedir folder filesystems through NFS imports.
The index file filesystem is local on both the production server and the
test one.. This is messy in that when I ask some one tests using the
test sever, the index has to be created or re-gennned,

Mongrel Web Server 0.3.11 -- Edge Rails and Win32Compliant
I don''t think there''s a way to do that other than using a proxy
(ISAPI_REWRITE) or just a server-side redirect. I''d love to be proven
wrong though.

samba and mac clients
On my network, when a mac client tries to access a windows share, they
are presented with a dialog box, prompting them for the share to connect
and then the authentication credentials.
However, when a mac client tires to connect to a samba share, it
immediately receive a dialog box with the error: "Could not connect to
the sever because the name or password is not correct.".

win95-98 problems
I've installed samba in my linux machine (Mandrake 7.2).
With WinNT and Win2000 there is no problems, but in Win95 and Win98 It's impossible to read files, and open exixting folders, the error is: "the file (folder) don't exist".
If I try to create one, It'isn't shown, there is an error, but if I go in machine with win2000 the folder(file) is there.
How can I resolve

Win95/98 Passwords
Hi,
when logging in from a Win95 PC to a Unix Server without password encryption set to yes I an access the share as expected. When logging on from a Win98 PC using exactly the same login id and password and trying to access the same share I am continually asked for a password when trying to map to the share. I have tried both encypt password=yes
and not encrypt but it makes no difference.
