Missing Policies directory -> how to recreate it?
Hi all, As I'm dumb, last time I played to update Samba version I forgot to keep a copy Policies directory in $samba_dir/sysvol/$samba_domain_name/. Is there any command to rebuild that directory with default policies? If there is not, are the IDs of default policies are always the same or samba generates this IDs? If they are always the same I would be able to copy them from another

Kerberos tickets problem
I'm setting up a Solaris 10 server as a test samba server with AD authentication. I'm running into a little bit of issue with Kerberos tickets. The setup is as follows Solaris-10, Windows AD-2003/R2, native Solaris (sparc) samba, Kerberos, LDAP (shipped with the distro) and IMU on windows. My LDAP client is working good and validates getent passwd <user> and can run ldaplist -l

SUMMARY: Samba "unable to validate password" error
To sunmanagers and samba@lists readers: Thank you all so much for your help with the samba issue. Although the problem was not solved, your suggestions made it possible for us to narrow down the problem. We believe the problem are two office PCs that were recently configured with some new test software. All other PCs and user accounts work fine. I do need to upgrade samba to a newer version

Samba errors
Dear list; I have been using samba 1.9.18p10 on a Sun Sparc Ultra 2 for about a year. I use it to share a directory to an NT/95 network. I now have a Sun Sparc Ultra 10 running Solaris 2.6. In order to prepare the Ultra 10 for y2k I downloaded samba-2.0.6-nonis+-sparc-sun-solaris2.6.pkg.gz from

Difficult process of restarting SCGI, Lighttpd, Apache, sessions
I''ve managed to get Rails working using Apache->Lighttpd->SCGI. Restarting everything is really difficult. This appears to be the process: - stop apache - stop lighttpd - stop scgi - make sure scgi still isn''t running (it sometimes does) - if it is, kill it - delete all session files (they often cause permission errors) - start scgi - start apache - start lighttpd - cross

New installation
>From the docs file WinNT.txt Passwords: ========== One of the most annoying problems with WinNT is that NT refuses to connect to a server that is in user level security mode and that doesn't support password encryption unless it first prompts the user for a password. This means even if you have the same password on the NT box and the Samba server you will get

Samba 2.2.8.a for Solaris
Hi, I just downloaded and installed samba2.2.8.a on a sun4u sparc box running Solaris8. The installation process completed w/o errors and I can now confirm that by "$pkginfo -l samba". I can even start and stop samba by "/etc/rc3.d/S99samba.server start" and see that smbd and nmbd processes are running. However, I can not find the "configure" file in the source

RPC error, Samba2.0.5 and NT
Hi, I've got the following problem: I'm running Samba 2.0.5 on SUSE Linux 6.1 as fileserver in a network with 5 clients with Win NT SP5. It worked all fine untill I put one more share to my smb.conf. Now I had 9 shares instead of 8. When I now tried to browse the shares from NT via the Explorer or on the Shell via 'net view \\czwserv' I got a error telling me that a RPC.method

Edit the file called src/EDITME and put the result in a file called Local/Makefile. Then you may proceed ... and next time ... you post an error message you may want to be specific ... not "or something like that" ...
