Print queue problem under solaris 2.6
Hi, I saw your message on the SAMBA web site and thought you might have heard of this problem and a possible solution. I'm running Samba 1.9.17p5 on a SUN Ultra-1 and it appears that the lprm command is being completely ignored by the system, which seems to be inserting an lpstat -o command instead. I did a level 5 debug and have been looking over the C code pretty closely but can't see

Problems Browsing
I have Samba 2.07 on Mandrake 7.2 distro. I am proxying a DSL connection successfully over Squid. I do not have ipchains running but with all the BS Mandrake like to pack on it's hard to tell what it's scripts all do. All the tests with the smbclient on the samba machine work fine. Also all the test with nmblookup. I have a clean Ping from both ends. When I use smbclient to view my Win98

Printer prints, but reports opening
We have a samba 2.2.3a-12.3 for Debian running, and something odd in printing. We use CUPs as linux print server. When we print from a w2k station, prints come out the printer, but the printer window reports a cycle of messages: - initializing printer - opening printer - failed to open, retrying what can be the cause? parts of the smb.conf: ============== [global] printcap

Advanced printers shares
Hi Here the problem. I am using samba 2.0.10 on sparc Solaris 8 platform in a Nis env. Currently we have about 100 or so printers listed in printers.conf nis map, these printers cover our 5 sites which all use the same nis env. Each site has one Domain master, and a local master on any separate subnets, as not all is in the same domain. When ours users log into a samba server they are

Error returning browse list: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Andrew, Jerry and the rest of the team: Hello again! It has been quite some time since I was here and waded the waters to set up bind8 and samba 2.07 on my trust mdk 7.2 box. (by the way, it is still working like a champ) over 400 days uptime before the last extended power outage. Well, obviously a lot has changed since the 2.07 days and I am now working on a SuSE 8.2 box with samba 2.2.7a

disable guest print account
hi, I have a pretty basic samba server installed on my Debian system. I use samba 2.2.3a-7 for Debian. Everything seems to work just fine except printing; Everyone is able to print (w2k clients) even though "guest ok = no" is set. The print job is done by the guest user (nobody). How is this possible when guest ok is set to no? TIA Ronald smb.conf: [global] netbios name = DARKCLOUD

Samba printing on Solaris 8
Hi: I am new to the Samba world and I am having problems with printing. I have Samba installed on a Solaris 8 server. I can see the Samba shares and the printer (lasersys) in Windows Explorer. I have installed the printer on my workstation (NT 4.0) using the Windows 'Add Printer' wizard. However, when I send a print job to the printer (Wordpad:File > Print) the job never gets to the

Cups printers troubles
Ok... here we go, I have a server running RH 7.3, samba 2.2.3a, and CUPS 1.1.14. All the printers we have are networked printers sitting off of Linksys printservers. On this server I am sharing all off our printers out via Samba. See my smb.conf file below. This server works perfectly. All printers are shared out successfully. Primary CUPS server: [global] workgroup = NEW

Hi all, I have been receiving the error "tree connect failed: ERRSRV - ERRinvnetname (Invalid network name in tree connect.)" for a while and I finally fixed it, but I have some questions about why it was happening. Firstly, it is Samba 2.0.7 running on Mandrake 8.0. My smb.conf file is at the end of this message. The machine's name is pinhead and in checking log.pinhead, I

I am trying to print to my HP 722c printer from a Windows 98SE client. My Samba server is a Mandrake 8.2 running version 2.2.3a. I can print from the linux computer but not from Windows. I am able to save files to the shared directory so I know that the networking is okay. I can open the Printer folder from Windows and I see the Samba printer there. troubles with PDC
Hello everybody, I hope somebody can tell me what is going wrong and how it can be fixed. To be honest: I have walked through the test document, and smbd and nmbd seem to work quite properly. However this is the case: Recently one of our smb-servers was suffering from a very bad HD. So I took another and installed linux on it (Slackware 8.1) and took most of the config files (among which

Access denied when printing to Samba printers
Howdy all, I'm setting up a print server machine to serve hosts in an Active Directory domain. Debian GNU/Linux ("sarge", current testing branch), Samba 3.0.0beta2-1. Samba printing and page counting
Hi, I'm running Samba printing services to share a printer on my Linux box with a network of windows machines. Everything works great. The only problem I am having is that I cannot count the number of pages printed by each user. My printers section looks like this: [printers] comment = All Printers browseable = no guest ok = no path = /var/spool/samba printable = yes public
