Winbind on SG
Sorry for the direct approach Am quite taken with the Winbind stuff. I spend most of my time working in mixed SG/NT sites .... with NT being the major backbone of the network. Winbind on the SGs would solve a lot of problems for me ... copying passwd files from machine to machine for one :-) Yes ... I know .. fraught with danger and yes, have had to reach for the boot CDs a couple of times :-)

wish list
I know that I have had trouble trying to sort out browse list problems and I see from the list that others seem to have similar problems. I wonder if a stand alone program that sits on the network, and just prints out the browse list synchronizing stuff would be useful. I suspect that similar output could be gleaned from setting the debug level in the nmb program and watching the log file.....

Asterisk & Eyebeam chat function
Hi all, Eyebeam has a sip-chat function and it would be nice if I would be able to use it. But the problem is that I can't really find information about it. I can just try to send a message and on the Asterisk console a message like this appears: Jun 13 10:05:25 WARNING[6512]: chan_sip.c:7281 receive_message: Received message to <sip:bla@voiphost> from "Bla

Help please -- smbmount refuses to work!
Hey folks...this is my first time working with samba and I'm stumped here! I cannot get smbmount to work for the life of me, and I've been playing with this for a few days now to no avail. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me out, so I've included as many details as I could think of. Also, if this is the wrong forum, I apologize in advance...please point me to the right

Sieve Rule: What am I missing here?
I have a rule that sends all mail from root to a mailbox, but I want it to NOT send mail from mailing-lists there. if allof (address :contains :localpart "From" "root", not anyof(exists ["List-Id","List-ID","Mailing-List", "X-List-Name","List-Post"])) { fileinto "root-mail"; stop; }

Multiple CPU HowTo in Linux?
Hello all, I upgraded my R workstation, and to my dismay, only one core appears to be used during intensive computation of a bioconductor function. What I have now is two dual-core Xeon 5160 CPUs and 10 GB RAM. When I fully load it, top reports about 25% user, 75% idle and 0.98 short-term load. The archives gave nothing helpful besides mention of snow. I thought of posting to HPC, but this system

Palm m50x & the USB stack
[It seems the last time this came up was in march, under the heading of "Sony Cybershot should be in hardware notes". This message is intended mainly to document what I've managed to track down.] The m500s still will not sync with pilot-link 0.11.7 in -STABLE. An easily triggerable panic is another issue [1]. The pilot-link code first opens /dev/ugenX and then switches to

Memory-leak 1.2.7.1
Hi All, First off all, this is my first mail to this mailing-list, so if I am doing something wrong please tell me. And apologies for my english in advance, it's not my native language. Anyway, I have few machines running Asterisk 1.2.7.1. All machines but one are Gentoo (other one is Debian). The problem is that Asterisk keeps eating my memory. Just random (mostly at night) all my free

license server platform authentication
I am trying to get a program running under wine that needs to connect to a flexlm license server. Unfortunately I get denied when authentication because the license is a 'windows' license and I am running the program from a linux platform. Is there a way to make wine authenticate as windows? I am using the 'windows version' of the program, so I am assuming that there is

Outdated Document - DOMAIN-CONTROL.txt
Dear Sir I been reading through your (?) samba-doc folder on Debian 2.2. The document DOMAIN-CONTROL.txt is dated 1996 and updated 1998. It mentions that SAMBA cannot be a PDC. This is not the case anymore isn't it? Thank you Warwick Chapman (Glenwood 1999) http://www.boatrace.co.za Assistant IT Manager Glenwood High School, Durban, South Africa 031 2055241 083 7797094

RDMA inline threshold?
Dear Dan, thanks for the quick reply! I actually tried restarting all processes (and even rebooting all servers), but the error persists. I can also confirm that all birck processes are running. My volume is a distrubute-only volume (not dispersed, no sharding). I also tried mounting with use_readdirp=no, because the error seems to be connected to readdirp, but this option does not change

RDMA inline threshold?
Stefan, Sounds like a brick process is not running. I have notice some strangeness in my lab when using RDMA, I often have to forcibly restart the brick process, often as in every single time I do a major operation, add a new volume, remove a volume, stop a volume, etc. gluster volume status <vol> Does any of the self heal daemons show N/A? If that's the case, try forcing a restart on

Encrypt Passwords & Mixed Case Passwords
Hello! I have a query regarding the use of "encrypt passwords = yes" and is wondering if anyone can help me with it. If I recall correctly, when using "encrypt passwords = no" , Samba will lookup the username/password via the UNIX /etc/passwd file or equivalent. And as the password can have mixed-case passwords, the "password level = x" parameter is used to

Unprivileged user can write to mbr
Hi, I'm having trouble rationalizing the behaviour described below. Is this a security-issue (bug) or a feature? - An unprivileged user 'bztest' with read-only access to /dev/ar0: %id uid=1004(bztest) gid=1004(test) groups=1004(test), 5(operator) %ls -l /dev/ar0 crw-r----- 1 root operator 4, 21 Nov 23 17:34 /dev/ar0 - Now, the device ar0 has the standard mbr installed: %cmp

GLM->Repeated measures (multivariate)
Dear subscribers, I'm trying to make the switch from M$ Windows to Linux (KDE) and found the R-cran project for statistical analysis. I'm not a genius in statistics so the command line interface is a bit hard for me. I need an analogue way to do the SPSS General Linear Model->Repeated Measures (multivariate) but I don't have a clue how to perform this in R-cran. Can maybe

RDMA inline threshold?
Dear all, I faced a problem with a glusterfs volume (pure distributed, _not_ dispersed) over RDMA transport. One user had a directory with a large number of files (50,000 files) and just doing an "ls" in this directory yields a "Transport endpoint not connected" error. The effect is, that "ls" only shows some files, but not all. The respective log file shows this

I'm coming to Paris Dec 19. I was wondering if there was any interest in having an Asterisk get together in Paris sometime near there. Any one out there interested? Anyone in Paris who could help organize something like that? :) Mark
