matchname messages filling logs - howto stop?
Listmates, I have had a few boxes where the 'matchname' message is filling my syslog with one new message ever ~40 seconds or so. No performance problems, just the log annoyance. An example of the messages are: Jan 11 13:43:03 nemesis smbd[2246]: [2010/01/11 13:43:03, 0] lib/util_sock.c:1685(get_peer_name) Jan 11 13:43:03 nemesis smbd[2246]: Matchname failed on Adrienne-PC.rbpllc.com

Slow Copy WinXX - Linux/Samba :-(
I never thought it would happen to me, but it did... I have read threads about slow copies from WinXX to Linux/Samba on the list in the past, but I don't recall a concise answer regarding what the cause was. THE PROBLEM: Trying to copy an 8 meg file from Win95 to my Linux/Samba box (named "Nemesis" - for good reason), the transfer speed slows to a crawl. The Win95 copy dialog box

pxelinux problems
Hi, I'm seeing a strange problem when using pxelinux - it loads OK initially and finds pxelinux.cfg/default, but then hangs. Looking in the server's /var/log/messages, I find this: Mar 18 14:01:38 fal000phys02 tftpd[24310]: tftp: client does not accept options Mar 18 14:01:38 fal000phys02 xinetd[6441]: tftp service was deactivated because of looping If I reload xinetd twice, tftpd

(no subject)
Is there a known bug that samba has on older machines in low memory environments? I have set up a 486 with 24Mb of memory with RedHat 7.1. I set it up to run dhcpd, xinetd, and samba. Samba was not run through xinetd. The samba server had a tendency to crash the machine if a large upload was sent to it. Occasionally, it wouldn't crash, but windows would error and stop uploading. No problems

UEFI/EFI booting and constantly asking for ldlinux.e64
I'm setting up UEFI booting and got to the point of having the system talk to the dhcpd/tftpd server, grab the first image files (syslinux.efi) and then continuously request the secondary image file (ldlinux.e64). I'm wondering if I'm missing something or if someone can point me in the right direction of trouble shooting this. The tftp root has all the files to boot a BIOS type

Has anyone any insight as to why RedHat Enterprise Level 5 is broken as far as PXE booting is concerned.
Hi ALL Has anyone any insight as to why RedHat Enterprise Level 5 is broken as far as PXE booting is concerned. Is there a Protocol communication problem ???????? Are there alternative tftp-severs that work for the RHEL5.. It seems: the PXE CLIENT when booting cannot access files in the "pxelinux.cfg" dir RHEL4 works just fine !! ( kernel 2.6.9-22.EL) with

Guest-domain has no login
Hi *, as this is my first post I want to say hello to everybody. Well, and unfortunatly I''ve already got a question for you: I''ve installed a guest domain (OS: CentOS 4) on my xen-machine and it''s para-virtualised (just to provide the information ;) ). After the installation and mount the image containing the guest to copy the necessary modules for the xen-kernel,

Samba (+ NAV?) and bad printer names?
At 4:00 every morning the 2 WinXP machines on my network generate a slew of queries to bad printer names. These names are variations on the name of a valid printer exported by Samba. Samba v3.0.10 is running on a RHEL4 system. It exports several shared drives and a single printer. The printer is named "lj4500", is managed by CUPS v1.1.22, and works correctly via Samba from both
