mkisofs bug ?
I need to make a iso image with the filesystem like
nero does and i need it for the windows platform not
for linux...
I need something that does not restrict filenames, it
doesn't boder me that are shortnames as long as it
let's me access the directory or filename.
This is the commandline I use to compile my iso file:
%BASEDIR%\isolinux\buildcd\win32\mkisofs -r -log-file
log.txt -J -l

Menu - labels
Webgen uses file paths to generate multilevel menues, bread crumbs etc. And
limits the character range in paths to a-zA-Z. As the directory names are
used verbatim as menu labels this is fairly limitting for non-english pages.
Is there a way to map directory names to configurable UTF8 strings for menu
labels?

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Ok...did some checking. I forgot to mention that I killed dead syslogd. Not just a -HUP but an actual kill and restarted. I did this several times. I was trying to get something else to work.
Anyway, I killed it again this morning and restarted. The infect message went away immediately.
Could this have been the problem?

Preparing for sharing with ACLs
Greetings -
I'm finalising the layout of our new mailstore ready for a trial
service using Dovecot (switching from the UW IMAP server). This is
using Maildir mailboxes, changing from our current mix of MBX and
traditional Berkeley.
One of the things we are often asked for is how someone can grant
another access to their mailbox: eg, a Head of Department wants the

Mounting folders with spaces in their names
I still have not been able to mount a folder called New Stuff in smbfs. I have tried:
mount -t smbfs -o username=tridge,password=foobar //MP3/New Stuff
mount -t smbfs -o username=tridge,password=foobar //MP3/New_Stuff
mount -t smbfs -o username=tridge,password=foobar //MP3/new_stuff
Nothing seems to work. The computer is called MP3 and the folder I want to open is called New Stuff. Its right

Light Libraries
Dear R-Help group:
I have been tinkering with how I want my personal standard library
functions to look like. They are not designed to be professional and
heavyweight, but lightweight. There are probably dozens of little bugs,
because I don't know or have not properly taken care of a variety of
internal R code issues. still, I like how this ended up, and there is no
learning curve, so I

slow browsing problem
I was looking into what was causing the lag when I open my samba
(3.0.27a) shares from windows (XP, SP2). I see a lot of consecutive
directory opening. Process Monitor seems to suggests that windows
is being stupid about alternate data streams: it tries to create
directoryname:{4c8cc155-6c1e-11d1-8e41-00c04fb9386d}, fails, and
tries another sixty-ish times before failing and doing the same with

WG: FileListBox with VisualBasic 5.0 displays only files if direc toryname is shorter than 9 character
Hello,
Sorry, there was an mistake in my previous mail. FileListBox with
VisualBasic 5.0 (32Bit) and NT4.0SP3 displays only files if directoryname is
shorter than 9 character.
I am using Samba1.9.18.p3. The problem doesn't occur if the connected
services is on an NT-Plattform.
Does anybody know a solution to this problem. Or hasn?t anybody had this
problem yet and am I just goofed ?

Two questions about menus
1) Feature request: the possibility to indicate a "short title" to
appear in the menu when the title would be too long.
2) Consider this site:
a.page
misc/
sub.page
Now I see in the menu:
A
Misc
| Sub
Is there any way to change "Misc" to an arbitrary string?
I tried with
misc:
title: arbitrary
with no luck.

Beginner's Guide to Wine? (mac user)
I am absolutely new to wine, and as such, am fairly clueless as to how to maneuver wine in terminal--or even maneuver in terminal, at all. I am interested in learning. The funny thing is: all the threads in the "Absolute Beginners" section of the forum is generally pretty far beyond my comprehension. So, I'm wondering if someone could refer me to a introductory guide to using script

samba gives weird results
the dirname is called test~[2 letters] on the windows client and loops
back into itself into infinity.

Samba mount at Login?
Can someone tell me how to set up a mount to occur automatically on login?
I have one directory per user on a Win network and I'd like each user to get
his own directory mounted when he logs in. (Automounting on boot is ok,
too). This is on Caldera eDesktop 2.4 with Samba 2.0.6. I can find and
mount each directory just fine when logged in as root, but smbmount does not
do the job when

access users homes share
hey list,
we are currently migrating our users from novell to samba. now we have one problem: in novell we could give e.g. user1 access to users2 home share so he could modify, delete or add files on this share. in samba we defined a global homes share that is mapped on logon. so how can we give user1 the needed rights?
here is the definition of the homes share in smb.conf:

Using GIS data in R
I have a simple problem: I need to load a ERSI shapefile of US states
and check whether or not a set of points are within the boundary of
these states. I have the shapefile, I have the coordinates but I'm
having a great deal of difficulty bringing the two together. The
problem is the various GIS packages for R do not play well with each
other. sp, shapefiles, maptools, etc all use different

How to do platform independent system calls?
Dear R experts,
I hope everyone has had a happy easter break.
Recently my work included writing R function that need to call external tools.
I did this using R's system function for example:
system( paste( 'tool', '-input', path_to_input, '-output',
path_to_output, '-other_switch', some_val ) )
I have two question about this:
1) Is there a way to implement
