Printing an extra blank page all the time.
Hi, I'm running samba-3.0.5 on OpenBSD 3.5. I'm trying out using samba as a print server for the first time, and it works ok, but I have this problem where everytime I print anything, a additional blank page comes out of the printer at the end of what was just printed. It's an old HP Laserjet 4 connected to the parallel port of the samba server. /etc/printcap lp|HP4|HP Laserjet

Certain apps - no printers
It's taken a while, but with good old trial and error (and lots of good advice from this list) I've managed to get Wine printing... most of the time. With the current config I'm using, CUPS, KDE, Debian, all but a couple of the Windows apps I've installed print to the local printer perfectly. However, there are a couple other apps that can't seem to find a printer at all.

Page printing problem
I'm having a problem printing from a W2K client to an HP4 Plus printer connected to a FreeBSD 4.5 server. Using lpd from either the server or other clients on the network prints correctly. The printer also works fine when connected directly to the W2K client. Anything I print from the W2K client with more than one page, prints all pages on one piece of paper. Makes it a little hard to

win98-samba2.0.7 = Network collisions
Hi, I have an Samba 2.0.7 Fileserver on my RedHat 7.0 Linuxbox Access to the shares with an Linuxclient - all works fine. When I use an Win98 or WIN ME client, I've got many network collisions. (Same file and share) Any ideas ? Thereis only one socket option set in my smb.conf: socket option = TCP_NODELAY Network = 100MBit/s Ethernet Changing of NICs,cables or Hub doesnt't resolve the

Creating a PDF on the fly
A friend and I are just in the process of trying to create PDFs on the fly. This isn''t in itself too hard, but we have some repeating images that are being put in over and over again. It''s increasing file size too much unfortunately. Does anyone know the best way to ensure file size is kept to a minimum for this scenario? We know about linking to a URI, but the problem with

printing LARGE files
hello, I am wondering how to print LARGE files.. samba seems to trunkate large files.. I changed my printer command = lp -d%p %s to no avail. If I print the file to the disk on the server I can then issue an lp -dhp5si LARGEFILE and it prints fine. any suggestions?? thanks in advance. Robert

Win98/HP Printer problem. Partially Solved.
I set up a print/fax server here using RH Linux 6.0, and Samba 2.0.3. The printer is an old (but still very reliable) HP Laserjet 4. Printing from the Linux box using lpr works fine. However, whenever someone tries to print from a Windows98 box through SAMBA, there is an extra page printed on the end. This gets really annoying to the users, more so because the extra pages cannot be put back into

cups, firefox + acrobat (Getting PJL output)
Hello, I am having a problem when printing pdf files as viewed from firefox/acroread to a samba print share. When I print from firefox, I get PJL output. If I print the very same file directly from Acrobat, the file prints properly. Standard web pages print from firfox just fine. #Sample output -12345X@PJL COMMENT MS PCLXL NT DRIVER @PJl JOB NAME ... I can print from firefox/acroread

NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED??
I installed Samba2.0.7 on my FreeBSD 4.1 box and joined an NT domain. It worked perfect until I changed the hostname today. I found that I couldn't chage the machine password if hostname length is 15. The precedure I do is 1. stop samba 2. change hostname to "abcde1234567890" 3. run smbpasswd -j DOM -r DomControl, then I get the following error message. cli_net_auth2: Error

SWAT issue
I have had a RH5.2 server running Samba up for a long time. I upgraded to Mandrake 6.0. It broke Samba, so I reinstalled using the RPM on the CD. Samba works just fine, but SWAT will not! If I try to start it manually (/usr/sbin/swat) it just hangs. In /etc/services I have a line like this: swat 901/tcp In /etc/inetd.conf I have: swat stream tcp nowait.400 root

CUPS Printing to PostScript Printer
I'm having trouble printing to a HP LaserJet 6MP Postscript printer. I'm using CUPS and normal UNIX printing works fine. I've tried to configure SAMBA for point and click printing. That all seemed to go okay except that what is printed is: ===================================================== -12345X@PJL JOB @PJL SET RESOLUTION = 600 @PJL SET ECONOMODE = OFF @PJL ENTER LANGUAGE =

Samba messing with PJL to printer
We have a Kyocera FS-3750 printer here that works fine from Windoze (NT 4.0 and 98) clients if connected "directly" via the Windows "LPR" interface but which spews out pages of garbage if spooled through Samba 2.0.7 on a Solaris box. What happens is the printer for some reason thinks it is being sent text but the first few lines are really PJL commands : %-12345X@PJL JOB @PJL

Slow Samba Printer initialisation, status, and printing
OK, I have been wrestling with this for two weeks now, so somebody please help ! We have an existing Samba Print Server, running RedHat linux, kernel 2.2.19, that runs fine, but is a P133 with 64 mb ram. So we built a new PC, the slowest thing we could buy, a duron 1 ghz with 512 mb RAM. Old printer server is running Samba 2.2.5, new printer server is running samba 2.2.5, and Slackware 8.1,
